Cute Ideas for a Zoo Wedding

Loganne, on April 18, 2017 at 11:37 PM Posted in Style and Décor 1 12

So my FH and I will be getting married at our local zoo that has the most amazing African savanna area. I'm so excited! I'm looking for some ways to incorporate the zoo theme or animals in a CLASSY way. We will be doing animal crackers in organza bags at each place setting, but that's all I can think of!

So exciting! Definitely keep animal print as a minority. It's way overused imo. It would be cute to have animal inspired flowers (tiger lily?) or some cute animal decor (giraffe vase or something. I'm bad at these! )

The tie and bridesmaids dresses are a bit much but the invites are cute

I'm getting married at the zoo! Our invites have rhinos on them, and we just ordered small gold animal place card holders (like the picture Justine posted). I also bought zebra print shoes, I figure nobody will see the shoes but it'll make a cute picture.

Frankly I have no good ideas about incorporating it into decorations, but my sister who is a photographer took photos at a zoo wedding. So take pictures with animals and in front of the carousel! I have attached one my sister took that I thought was a cool idea.

Here are some cute ideas! You could give each guest one of those imprinted crushed pennies as a favor (maybe tied over the wrapped cookies or something). I would pose ON the carousel, and in front of/with the animals. You could also incorporate elements like butterflies, birds, and peacock feathers into your decor (in flower arrangements, bouquets, hair piece, designs on cake, etc.) and utilize vintage academic animal illustrations and animal silhouettes throughout, perhaps for table names/numbers and on the invitations. Also, you could get a bunch of potted plants to place around throughout the venue. You could get more creative with your floral arrangements and use a lot of big and/or vibrant greens, succulents, large colorful flowers, or terrariums. Animal figurines as cake toppers--you might be able to find some nice carved stone ones somewhere, CostPlus World Market would be somewhere I would check out or you could paint some cheapy ones in a color like white or silver/gold. You could do a chocolate marble cake for the wedding cake so it looks like a zebra inside. Cufflinks with animals on them. Snakeskin or animal print shoes. Oragami animals as escort cards. If you have a selfie station/photobooth you could have animal masks and safari hats for guests to wear in photos lol.

Although I couldn't personally attend or service your zoo wedding (serious allergies that would cause an ambulance to detract from the bride), I still have a few great ideas.

If you're thinking about table decor, use leafy greenery -- miniature versions of what herbivores eat. Then, get yourself some small plastic zoo animals -- the type that are sold in the dollar store. Spray paint them gold (silver, copper, brass...and if you want to, sprinkle them with ultra fine glitter) and place them around your greenery. Rhinos, giraffes, monkeys....whatever. It will look great. Here's a link:

Sorry, two links don't work and have to be cut and pasted. Google "Gold Spray Painted Zoo Animals" and hit images. You'll see all kinds of way to incorporate your zoo theme, nicely.
