Cute ideas to show guests what table they are assigned to

Kathryn, on November 18, 2013 at 11:34 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 19

Morning ladies!

I was trying to find a cute DIY project to tell our guests which table they are assigned to. I went to a wedding once where they had small mason jars with a number painted on it. The mason jars had goodies inside so it worked out to be the guests present as well. Since we won't be doing seating assignments, just table assignments what did you do or what are you planning on doing? Once the date gets closer (I know how far away it is! I just love planning!) I can pick up the necessary supplies to make the table assignments! Thanks ladies!

We are just doing table assignments as well. We will have a table set up with mason jars and those striped paper straws (light pink and cream) with chalkboard tags on the straws saying their name and table. Then we will have our two signature drinks (and some lemonatde for the kiddies) that they will be served in their mason jars and then they will find their seats.

I wanted to do this for my brunch wedding, but it just didn't happen for me.

@Jamie: I love your idea! I think I might steal that Smiley smile Where did you buy the corks from? I like how they don't have wine stains on half the cork Smiley smile

We're doing a slight baseball theme (nothing over the top) so we're naming the tables after stadiums (FH and I travel around the country to see the Phillies play at away stadiums) and the escort cards will be fake baseball tickets to a game at that stadium.

I am not doing escort cards. Going to print it out on a board and have it framed. Haven't picked a design yet, something like this...

My escort table will likely be outside on a breezeway so I needed something with a little weight so they wouldn't blow away. This is likely what we'll do but the cake pops will be wrapped because GERMS.

Here are my DIY table numbers. Smiley smile

Sorry, the picture isn't the greatest. I have a huge chalkboard that I will write my guests' name on, and that will tell them which table to go to. Smiley smile

All of these ideas are creative and will be added to my list. @Monica I think I'm have to put your idea on the top of my list.

FH and I met on match.com so our escort cards are matchboxes - assigning tables, not seats.

We are making a wooden planter box and putting little shovels in the soil with their names on the top and the table number will be revealed when they lift the shovels out. Then, they can plant some wildflower seeds where their shovel was so we can plant a garden of love <3

    @Tash & Catherine.

If you're really into DIY you can buy glass etching cream at like Michaels or Hobby lobby and do it yourself. My aunt taught me how..

1: you make a pattern/template out of contact paper that has the sticky backing. cutting out the letter or designs you want etched.

    2. Place it on the mirror, follow the direction on the etching cream (usually just spread it however thick you want with a foam paintbrush, let sit for however long the bottle says.

    3. Gently peel up the corner of the contact paper using a sharp knife or similar then take it completely off.

    4. When the etching cream is completely dry you can clean the mirror with soap & water.

Tada! beautiful etched glass. You can also buy stencils already done up if you don't feel like doing it yourself.

This could be a cute sign if you decide to go with the mason jars!

@Allyson - Baseball theme (slight, not over the top) here too! We did tickets as out STDs. For our guest cards, we are having guest cards shaped like miniature jerseys with team logos on them. The table numbers are larger versions of the jerseys with the team logo.

(btw, Phillies fan here too! He is an Orioles fan.)
