Cute Way to Ask Your Girls to be Your Bridesmaids/MOH?

Colleen, on July 15, 2014 at 9:39 PM Posted in Planning 0 22

I have been looking on Pinterest and there are just SO many ideas out there...I don't want it to be overly expensive or time consuming, just looking for a cute little way to formally ask them to be in my wedding. What did you all do?

I texted them. Seriously. But we knew for months he was going to propose, and I guess I just asked them months prior to him asking. When he finally proposed, I just texted them.

I did something simple. I had a card designed by an Etsy vendor and put a personalized note in each card. The girls liked it. Card design is below.

I got little boxes and rose petals from the dollar store along with some ring pops, then I put the rose petals in the box with a ring pop and made a note that said "He popped the question now it's my turn. Will you be my bridesmaid?" They all loved it and thought it was cute. I also decorated the box.

I got a small ice cream cake from Dairy Queen and had them write on the top "Will you be my Maid of Honor/Bridesmaids?"

I wrote a poem, drew my MoH a card, and gave her a ring. In case it's hard the read, the poem says:

As sisters, there's so much we share

Can I ask you to find my shoes and help fix my hair?

Would you hold my flowers? Help me pick out a dress?

Cheer me up when I'm feeling a mess?

Would you help to ensure all the guests are on time?

And make sure their stay is nothing less than sublime?

Would you be the first to shake it and get people dancing

While my sweetheart and I are lost in romancing?

Would you remind me of anything I may be forgetting?

And stand by my side on the day of my wedding?

Tiki Bird I love it! That is just awesome! I love the ring that says Ohana too :-)

I made each of mine cards at Walmart that had pictures of us on the outside and were blank on the inside so I could write them each a personal note of how special they are to me and why I want them beside me on my wedding day. They all really appreciated seeing some old pictures that were really personal to bring back great memories! And it was really inexpensive!

For my cousin I created a "Bridesmaid Contract" with all these ridiculous expectations that I would obviously never expect or demand of my bridesmaids. She called me laughing when she received it in the mail and thought it was a cute joke. She sent it back to me signed and dated :p

For my other girls I printed cards right off of my computer and gave it to them in person. The front said "Now that I have my guy I need my girls" with a cute clipart picture of a rack of dresses, and then the inside said "Will you be my bridesmaid?"

I didn't do anything special. Two of mine are my sisters, and just one friend. My sisters knew they'd be in the wedding, as that goes unsaid in my family. I just gushed to my girlfriend in excitement about how much she means to me and how I'd love for her to be at my side during the wedding. That was enough for her!

I ordered initial necklaces as bridesmaids gifts and decorated boxes to our theme with card inside asking them. I knew they'd say yes so didn't worry about unnecessary expenses. Now I don't have to look into buying them gifts later.

I made a personalized video for each of them with a opening message. Then a short walk down memory lane where I talk about all the things we've gone through with each other and my wishes for our friendship moving forward. At the end, I find a song that relates to us accompanying a slideshow of all our fun photos together. Final 15 sec is a freeze frame on tentative schedule so all of them can make an informed decision if they can participate Smiley smile or turn it down for whatever reason.

Thankfully all 4 of my bridesmaids said yes Smiley smile

I made little bridesmaid survival kits but they were humorous. They had things like lipgloss, airplane bottle of liquor, notepads and other things and I gave each of them cards ith a pretty poem that I found online. They loved them and I got everything from the dollar store, except the liquor of course...lol

@ Tiki bird that was adorable!!! I didn't have to ask my MOH she just expected it! Haha, it was fine with me because we've been friends all our lives. No words needed to be said. We just both expected and knew she would be the MOH and she is perfect for it. My other BM I just texted! Nothing special. My other BM said she hoped and wished she would be in my wedding. So she basically asked me!! Because she is so beautiful, with a slamming body, I told her she could be in my wedding because I needed a little eye candy in my wedding party, haha. Not that my other two aren't pretty, but this one is exceptionally beautiful and we both love girly things. But I didn't do anything special.
