Cutting the guest list

Jess, on October 17, 2020 at 10:49 AM Posted in Planning 0 6
So Disney is only allowing 50 guest and that includes my fiancé and I due to guidelines with covid. The good news is we only had 65 guest invited ( majority of them never RSVP and it was due yesterday ) the bad news is I already know a few of them are going to be butthurt even tho this is out of my control.

I am so sorry you have to deal with this. Cutting the list is never fun...especially when you know feelings will be hurt. We are getting married 10/31. At save the dates we had 80 people plus us and vendors. Our venue then said no more than 50 *total* so we had to cut things down to 42 (plus us and vendors). Cutting the list was super hard, and I know there are some people that are hurt they did not make the final cut. I put in another post how we are now getting people asking if we will increase our list now that restrictions are not as tight (mind you those mandates weren't lifted until *after* our invites went out and we were 12 days out from our RSVP deadline)...and they are even more disgruntled when we say no.

Your RSVP deadline was in October for a January wedding? Probably people haven't RSVPed because they don't know yet. As far as uninviting people, I would start by calling the non-responders and talking to them, but I would call (even though it will likely be unpleasant) not text/e-mail.

Unfortunately, some people are always going to get their panties in a twist - but you didn't make the rules, you're just following them.

Aw sweetie I'm so sorry. 17 guests doesn't seem like a lot until it gets to 65 going to 50 (minus 2 for you two). Is it mostly family or are there friends too? Could some be okay with zooming in?

I hope for your sanity that you are able to figure this out! Goodluck!

Anyone who gets butthurt over a guest restriction by the venue, in a state that is seeing a massive spike in a dangerous virus...

Is saying far more about themselves than they are about you!

Since people haven't RSVP'd, I'd start reaching out and seeing if people just didn't want to tell you "no".

    (...Where in Disney? Epcot???)

We actually made the decision to postpone the wedding Smiley sad yesterday I spoke to my planner and she told me some rules and guidelines that was just becoming more restrictive so it’s best just to push it back to actually have the wedding we want. Our ceremony is at the wedding pavilion and reception at the grand floridian ball room

I'm sorry you had to postpone, but it does sound like it's for everyone's safety.
