My friend got engaged. Yay! She got a beautiful cz engagement ring. Well now she is having 2nd thoughts because she says it's not real and she's afraid of what others would think. I told her she could have any ring she wanted. Who cares what other ppl think?! I told her mine ring was pink and white...

My friend got engaged. Yay! She got a beautiful cz engagement ring. Well now she is having 2nd thoughts because she says it's not real and she's afraid of what others would think. I told her she could have any ring she wanted. Who cares what other ppl think?! I told her mine ring was pink and white sapphire! And then I asked why did you get it then? Because she liked it. And I don't get how ppl think cz's are fake...it's cz stone, not a diamond. So what do you ladies think about cz rings? I don't get it. That's why chose a colored stone.

Who the heck would go up to your friend, point to her finger and even question if her ring was real or not? that would be just so rude. its not the diamond that makes the engagement. heck, my fh could have put a ring pop on my finger and i would have been just as excited.

CZs can be very pretty! If she loves it, who cares?!

I think that she should be grateful. Often times ppl get caught up in what they think they should have VS. what they can afford. If your FH cant afford the diamond(s) that you would like either look for a better FH or be content with what you are given.

IMO is she wants likes the CZ then she should wear it proudly. She can always save money to get a diamond later if she wished to get diamond if it bothers her.

I think as long as she is happy thats what matters! I almost got a CZ but my FH refused to go that route. They have some really nice ones that are resonably priced and they look good.

I don't think it really matters what she has, she just needs to make sure she has a quality CZ so it doesn't fade, and some have a green tinge to them, and that the band is a real precious metal. If she is happy unless she goes around telling everyone no one will ever know unless they read her post.. LOL. I love all stones, I wanted my FH birthstone with diamonds but because his stone is too fragile it cannot be placed nest to diamonds in a ring, so now it's all diamonds. It doesn't matter if your ring comes from a gumball machine it's your love binding you together not your jewels.

If she loves it it really doesn't matter. Mine is not even a 1/4 carat-its a seven point set into a metal plate (kind of like a channel set). The metal plate is faceted to give it more shine and it looks spectacular. Bonus for me-it looks like a normal setting but the plate is soldered to the prongs, so I don't have to worry about the prongs coming loose (I'm accident proned and hit my hands against things all the time). It's a small diamond and I love it. The band is unusual (and reminds me of a ring that my grandfather gave me) So far the comments on mine are usually "It's so gorgeous and so YOU!" (since I almost always wear the ring my grandfather gave me). There have only been two comments on the diamond-my FH when I picked it (are you sure? We could afford more) and my boss (who drips in jewelry-her husband makes a lot of money) Most see my smile and know that I love it and take that as enough.

As for colored diamonds being an investment-right now they are popular, but that can change. My FMIL bought a 1 1/2 carat marquis cut diamond ring (I won't be gaudy in saying how much she paid for it when she bought it, but I'm sure you can estimate) when that was THE cut that everyone wanted. She went to sell it because she was tired of it, and it was only worth about 1/10 of what she paid for it (through a jewler that is a gem dealer) because it's not a popular cut any more and has to be recut. Get what you love, not what you think will increase in value, because trends change and what is expensive now will most likely change in the future and may be worth very little.

Ladies I totally agree! Most ppl get caught up in the price. Did you by my ring? No!So don't be questioning me about what's on my finger! Someone did ask and told her it looked fake. It looks like a diamond to me. I don't know anything about color, clarity or the letters. I did let her read post. She said thanks and feels better!I old her the WW girls are the best! She'll be joining soon! Brandy and Kasey your rings are pretty!

For those of you who want to see just how far cubic zirconia has come, take a look-see at our engagement ring collection. There are now high quality 5A rated stones which are the closest you can get to a real diamond...When held next to genuine diamonds you cannot see the difference. They have even fooled the "diamond test" at jewelry stores!

We've sold many engagement rings in 14 or 18 karat gold to couples who are on a budget but still want a beautiful ring. Most of our rings start under $500. With the savings you can buy a house or go on a 6 week honeymoon instead!

Nothing wrong with CZ rings! I do think that if you want it to last, a good 14kt gold setting is a good idea. Check out more tips for buying a "fake" or CZ engagement ring here:

I originally wanted a diamond and after long discussions and comparing prices (major difference!) we decided to go with a CZ. It looks no different than a diamond to the eye. No one has ever questioned if it's "real" or it's size or anything. They just say how beautiful it is. =) all that matters is your happiness.
