Dad as Best Man?

Lindsey, on November 9, 2021 at 11:20 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 10
My fiancé wanted me to ask and see what you all think regarding HIS dad being the best man. Apparently this is something families in his home town typically do, but I’ve never seen it before. LMK what you think!

I think people can choose whomever they want to be their wedding attendants. But if your fiancé is questioning it, maybe that means he doesn't really want his dad and is just feeling family pressure. I would advise him to pick exactly who he wants, no more, no less.

Sure, why not?? His best man should be the person closest to him, and if that’s his father I don’t see why he shouldn’t be chosen. I’ve seen this done a couple times, and I’ve also seen grooms with children choose their sons to be their best men.

I’ve never seen this done before, but I think it’s so sweet! To have his father, his best friend, stand by his side at his wedding, ugh, tear jerker! I love it!

I've seen any combination of this. Dads and sons and sisters as best "men", moms and daughters and brothers as bridesmaids. My son walked me down the aisle with my dad. Long story short, people can do whatever they want in their wedding!

There's honestly no problem with that! My husband's friend who got married in 2018 had his sister be the "best man" (I'm not sure what the female version of that is lol). But it was cute because they really were close! so, it was perfect. Is there a reason why you guys would question it?

Where I’m from typically the best man is always the father or a father figure it’s not really common from where I’m located for a guy to have one of his friends as the best man over his dad obviously this is different everywhere but from my experience it’s always been the Dad so there’s no problem with that

I have not seen this but my fiancé was going to do this as well. He’s the only child and has a close relationship with his folks. However, he decided not to due to his dad’s health problems. It’s wasn’t ideal because his dad won’t be able to walk or stand for long periods of time.
So if you’re fiancé would like to include his Father then go for it.

My dad's Best Man was his dad! And my mom's MOH was her mom! It was very cute and sweet and the pictures make me cry every time.
