Dad-chelor "party"

Sarah, on February 4, 2021 at 9:22 PM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 7

I have a son from a previous relationship, he is 9. Him and my fh get along fabulously and have a great relationship. While I know not everything can revolve around my son, I do want to make sure he feels special and as included as he can be in this whole thing, as it effects his life just as much if not more than mine. I got to thinking, he is the only child in the wedding, but he's at that stage where he thinks of himself as being "one of the guys" with his uncles and such. Then it occurred to me that he doesn't get to participate in the guys pre wedding shenanigans. So I have decided that I am going to put together a "Dad-chelors" party for them. My fh doesn't have any biological kids yet, but my son tells his friends that he is his dad and refers to him as dad when anyone else asks. I figure this would be a good way to celebrate the two of them, and my fh officially stepping into that step dad role by marrying me. The theme of their little party will probably be something they both have mutual interest in, they like to look at Pokemon cards together, so it'll be kid friendly and neither will get bored of a wedding theme lol. Ill probably have a few other male family members over and will put together little goody bags and have pizzas and junk food. Nothing too extravagant just a little girl free something for them.

Has anyone else here tried to incorporate anything special for kids they are bringing into the marriage?

This is an adorable idea! My kids are adults now but they really like my FH and it’s such a good feeling having their approval!
    Best of luck!

Ah, I am glad I’m not alone. I am planning to have that too. We are renewing our vows, destination wedding with just our kids. So once we arrived we like to spend a couple days, dadchelor and momchelor. We most likely will walk around do tourist things, shopping and eat. We don’t drink, so we can’t enjoy that anyway. Separate hotels is in plan too. I think this is a great idea before the “first look” and add excitement for the silver wedding.

I think it's cute, let your fiancé have a normal bachelors party as well as a kid friendly one!

Of course I'm not trying to take away or change his bachelors just add something different on another day with my son.
