daddy & daughter dance... what are you picking?

Mrs. Noble, on March 20, 2013 at 1:41 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 28

What song are you doing? I listened to bunch of them, and I think "I loved her first" is my favorite.... he will cry for sure, though.

Here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fV6fmBerRg

What are you doing?

We are not planning to do a lot of dancing but want to just have a few specific ones.

I'm going non-traditional with my Father/Daughter dance. My dad and I used to watch "The Jungle Book" all the time when I was little. I would call him Baloo and he would call me Mowgli and we'd dance around the house to "The Bare Necessities." So our dance is going to be to "The Bare Necessities." Smiley smile

Before I was born my dad would sing "My Girl" to my mom's belly and then he sang it to me as a baby so that is what we are going with :-)

@Kelly I love that idea! What a great way to share that special moment with your dad

I've been considering "My Girl" but I have more memories of my mom singing that to me, over and over, when I was in the hospital in 2005, 2007... when I lost my hearing, she learned some of the signs for the lyrics and made of the rest of it. When I looked up the lyrics, i was like "huh?" ...seems like i've just been familiar with parts of the song, primarily the chorus, haha.

I don't think that I recall Dad ever singing that to me... but maybe he did when I was burping, pooping, and crying myself to sleep. ...he is not much of a singer or a dancer, for that matter.

We are not doing a lot of dancing either but the traditional ones (father/daughter, first dance, etc.). I haven't picked any of our songs yet but love the ideas you ladies have come up with.

We're using the song "Didn't have to be" by Brad Paisley. My biological father is recently deceased and was absent most of my life but my Step father has always been my dad. He's raised me all my life and provided me with all my wants and needs. It's the most suiting song for us and I love it.

FH and our daughter are doing a daddy daughter dance too. They're using "cleaning this gun" and "daughter's father" in a half and half mix to add some fun with some sweeter moments

My Dad passed away last year and FH Mom passed 20 years ago. So I'm going to dance with his Dad and he's going to dance with my Mom while we have a slide show playing in the background of pictures of us with our parents. We will be dancing to "To the Moon and Back" by Dolly Parton.

No idea...letting him pick it and I think he wants Jump by Van Halen. I doubt he will go with that but it is his favorite. Fingers Crossed!

I think we're going to do "Because you loved me" by Celine Dion. But we haven't decided yet.

We are dancing to Heartland's "I Loved Her First". It makes me cry when i hear it. I also considered Tim McGraw's "My Little Girl" but it just didnt have the right tune for me.

I don't know actually. My dad has had it picked out since before I was born, but he wants it to be a secret! I'm laid back and don't want to burst his bubble so I guess I will find out when the music starts. I'm a total Daddy's girl so I'm hoping I don't burst into tears!

Greatest Love of All - Whitney Houston. It has no father daughter meaning but we used to sit together and sing it at the top of our lungs when I was 4. Its my only great memory with my dad.

I have honestly been putting off picking out a song because I am a daddy's girl and every time I try to look I bust into tears haha I don't know what it will end up being but I think I might just leave it up to him.

We haven't decided for sure, but my dad really likes "Tips of My Fingers," by Bill Anderson. I think it's supposed to be more a romantic song than a father/daughter song, but it's still very fitting, and I tear up whenever I listen to it.
