Dafont.com--anyone used this site??!

Rynni D., on May 22, 2014 at 12:55 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 15

Has anyone used Dafont.com?

At the start of planning I ordered a customized rubber stamp with our return address for invites & STDs from Etsy. Well, I didn't think about the font for my guest address labels. MS Word does not have a font that's even close to the costume one used on my rubber stamp. Example of font attached!

Dafont.com is a site where anyone can create and upload custom font style for use to the public. From what I can see all font styles are free. But I already tried downloading fonts with a different site and now I get the MOST ANNOYING pop ups.

I'm interested in hearing about others experience with this site.

any suggestions would help...

Thanks

Same, used it to get the font that was used on my invitations so I could make all the accompanying things with the same font.

Yup. You just download the font you like, open word, search for the font and start typing.

I haven't had any pop ups. Try checking your browser ad ons. Look for the add on that is sending you the ads and remove it.

OK, great! that's good enough for me. Have you had any trouble with the download being compatible with MS Word programs.

I am a designer and use it daily. It is awesome! You will need to install the font before you can use it though.

Usually a zip file will download, open this, copy the .TTF file to your desktop or somewhere, then right click and install.

I downloaded several fonts and haven't had a problem.

I recommend getting the free download of superantispyware (http://www.superantispyware.com/), and running that every other day or so (the free version doesn't do a real-time scan, so you have to initiate the scans). It should make a big difference.

I should also say, though, that I did create a restore point before downloading any of the fonts, and would suggest anyone who plans to use dafont do the same, just in case they get a really nasty bug.

Another question. Some fonts are listed as "100% free" & others are categorized as "free for personal use". Can someone explain to me the difference?

    Thanks!

I use dafont all the time - love it!

For your purposes, "100% free" and "free for personal use" are the same thing. The "free for personal use" fonts cannot be used commercially without paying royalties, but that is not your intention, so no worries there.

Love dafont.com! I use it all the time. Free for personal use just means that you can't use it for business purposes. So, like you can't take the font and make business cards/flyers using them, since they solicit business. You're not trying to sell anything for your wedding, so you're good.
