Dance floor decal

Sasha, on September 1, 2017 at 5:17 PM Posted in Style and Décor 1 14

Hello everyone. So I checked with my venue & they allowed us to put a wedding decal on the dance floor but it can't leave any residue. I've never used a decal before. Has anyone ever purchased one & used it? Does it leave any residue? Does it stay on all night? Thanks in advance.

I would suggest the ones on a light instead. Same effect, much less chance of it being a problem and MUCH less expensive

Kimberly actually the vinyl decals are much less expensive than the lighted ones. My vinyl cost me $60 on etsy and my dj quoted me $275 for the lighted monogram.

OP get vinyl. It doesn't leave a residue and easy to take off.

@FME I remember that one. Haven't seen her around tho.

I work in the printing industry and can recommend using vinyl. It leaves no residue (shouldn't at least). Not a sticker, not permanent adhesive .. just a vinyl decal.

That was me with the unfortunate monogram PSA thread. present and accounted for.

@OP they make specific vinyls for this that are low tack and removable and therefore don't leave any residue. it does make them a little more costly. do you have any print shops in your area like a Fast Signs? Even some UPS stores work with wholesalers like myself to get their customers things like this that they don't normally make in house. The specific material we use all the time for decal in which leaving residue behind is a concern is called Jarhead, also known as Fathead (if you're familiar with the line of graphics for kids that are usually sports athletes? that's the material) any vinyl that's labeled as removable will usually work in this situation. another one to ask for specifically is Oracal 631 which is a low-cost vinyl available in a really huge range of colors.

good luck to you! are you installing it yourself or do you have someone that can install it? i can give you some install tips and things to request from where ever you go to get it made that will help with the install.

hopefully they aren't like me and bitch to the high heavens about it though Smiley winking

I'd even help you make your artwork if you want, that should save you some money in design and set-up from wherever you'd go to have it made. (free of charge of course)

Most of my parties use 651 or an adhesive similar but they put down false floors on top of the venue floor. Idk how the hell they get it off after all the dancing on it but that's their problem lol!

@ OP i can't recommend enough that you go into an actual printing shop to do this so you know you're getting the exact thing you're asking for vs trusting that something you order online will be a quality product and removable w/ no residue. UNLESS of course there are tons of reviews that state they were able to get it up with zero issues. and bring some isopropyl alcohol in a spray bottle or some goo gone, if you can remember, just in case.

What size did you purchase? Was your venue very big. I want to order through Etsy but not sure of what size I should get.

We are using a GoBo Light that will be up behind our band. I checked Pinterest for ideas, sent out lighting company pics, and they created a personalized one for us

Yeah! You can purchase floor stickers from Bade Newby, the sticker printing company, at the cheapest rate online. You will probably like it, and their stickers are easy to remove without leaving any residue.

    Hello,

If I am trying to keep the cost of this dance decal to not very high, where should I buy it from?

All the ones on etsy seem super expensive too (11 x 6 ft is $250).

@Jason, Where else can I buy this for lesser? Bade Newby seems to be a UK company

@slimshady, so I should be asking at UPS stores?
