Dance for all married couples- Who has been married longest?

I saw this at a wedding I was babysitting at (I wasn't actually a guest, and was only there for about 15 mins to pick up the kids and take them home, so I was glad I saw it). I saw this at a wedding I was babysitting at (I wasn't actually a guest, and was only there for about 15 mins to pick up the kids and take them home, so I was glad I saw it). DJ called all married couples to the dance floor and he called out an amount of time that people had been married, and people had to sit down when their amount of time was passed (been married less than 24 hours, 1 year, 3 years, etc). I would love to do this to show our respects to all three sets of our grandparents who have all been married for 50 years. Anyone ever seen this? Any good songs to choose for this dance? I have no idea what a good song for this would be!

Ahhh, thank you, dear ladies. I didn't mean to hijack the thread, but when the subject of anniversaries came up, I wanted to share, lol.

I see this all the time. It is absolutely wonderful. The couple who "wins" is totally beaming. What a great way to honor your Grandparents' marriages!

    ETA : Happy anniversary Centerpiece!

I'd really like to do this! I'm thinking of a song by Michael Bublé, haven't fully decided which one yet. Though I still have to ask FH if he would think it's a good idea because the only grandparent that will be there is his grandpa and he's had a new girlfriend for about six months lol but we'll see

We are doing this, and I adore the idea! I think it's so sweet.

My DJ recommended that if there's a couple you know will win (like your grandparents, for example) to try to find out their wedding song to use for the dance. We may try to do that.

I saw an anniversary dance at a wedding about three years ago (give or take). The music was "I Can't Help Falling in Love with You." Very emotional, and the faces on the dance floor looked like they had been carried back to another time.

I desperately want to do this but FH thinks it would be incredibly insensitive to those in our family whose spouses are deceased. Thoughts?

I want to do this and think it would be great to honor those couples who have stayed together for so many years. Is it completely against etiquette to include couples who are together, but not married?

We are doing Cant Help Falling in Love by Elvis. We have two bottles of wine to give to the two longest married couples!

It's better than the garter and bouquet toss for single people but can definitely make them, widows and widowers, same sex couples, people who are divorced, etc. feel kind of shitty. I think it's a "know your crowd" thing.

@katie my mom and step dad have been together since she was pregnant with me but they've never actually went through getting married. I'm including them in the dance. They're the only couple invited to the wedding with those circumstances.

This is what I'm doing instead of a bouquet toss. I'll give my tossing bouquet to that couple.

No idea what the song will be lol

Please do not do it if any of your parents or siblings are divorced, or widowed. Oh heck, dont do it.

I'd use the opportunity to go to the bar or ladies room. Usually it's grandparents or a great aunt/uncle who are the pre-known winners. It's not that exciting, for everyone else.

Hmm I'm thinking maybe I should do this now instead where the garter stuff would be.
