FH and I have been taking dance lessons...last night I asked our instructor if he's heard feedback from brides on dancing in their gowns. His suggestion, and what he's heard from brides, is "costume change"... I've considered this, but had decided to stay in my gown. Sooo. Any tips on not stepping...

His suggestion, and what he's heard from brides, is "costume change"... I've considered this, but had decided to stay in my gown. Sooo. Any tips on not stepping on, tripping over, making a complete disaster mess of my gown during dancing?? Yes, it will be bustled.

I worry about this too. My dress is very form fitting and I want to let loose! But I cant justify wearing my expensive dress for an hour or two and changing. I am thinking about buying a white cocktail or maxi dresss and changing at like 11 when the real dancing will start....our party is going late since its NYE

Definitely bustle and it shouldn't be a problem. My bustle broke though and I had to borrow someone's high heels to raise myself and dress off the ground to dance. It was only 2 minutes but I hated the high heels.

@tina killing it on the dance floor!

You may look funny practicing in a if skirt but is definitely worth it!!!

Hi! My best suggestion to you is this. Invest in a pair of white wedge sneakers. I got a pair of Juicy ones at Kohls and they were perfect. No one knew they were on and they kept my bustled dress off the ground all night. We went to the bar afterwards and again they were a lifesaver! Have the venue leave them under your table so you can change once the reception fun starts.

I am also concerned about this. My seamstress de-poofed my dress last fitting, but it's still pretty substantial (volume-wise). And our first dance may be slightly ambitious speed-wise (also a dancer).

    Edit: missed a verb!

Just bustle it and practice dancing IN YOUR HEELS and a cheap ass skirt that's floor length. you'll be fine promise.

@Margaret, we're recreating most of the TOL video minus the floor work. All the twirls and close partner work made me too nervous to risk it without practicing in my actual dress which I don't want FH to see. He's seen the short reception one and we will start practicing in it in a week or two so we'll be plenty comfortable.

I found my petticoat on amazon. I couldn't find a reasonable orange one on Etsy.
