"Dancing on clouds" effect during first dance... Have you seen it?

cupcake_bride, on September 15, 2014 at 9:20 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 11

If you've never heard of it or seen it...it's dry ice that creates the effect of puffy clouds at your feet for during the first dance. It's apparently not going to get in your face and lasts for just 4 minutes. FH is all about it...I'm not so sure. Have you ever seen it? Are you doing it? Never heard of it? For some reason it's a "new trend" but why do I feel like it reminds me of an old school romance novel...?

I think with the right kind of wedding it could be pretty like a whimsical romantic wedding...otherwise I think it might just look a little cheesy. I'm not doing it.

It's totally cheesy and makes me think of an early 90s prom.

I'm not sure it's a "new trend"...I've seen that done for years and seems kinda old skool to me. I personally don't care for it. If you want it though, go for it!

My FH wants it and I'm against it lol. I think it strays away from our theme of elegance. We shall see who wins lol

I would first check with your venue to see if it is allowed, as it can leave residue. Our venue didn't allow any fog or dry ice machines. Then, if it's still a go, look it up on Youtube to see what you think of the effect. Keep in mind, it'll be an added cost for you guys.

I used to be a ballerina. We used it in the Nutcracker every year. It takes awhile to fill a space and is cold/damp. It does look interesting though.

I just think it looks really cheesy! I feel like I've gotten so many things that I wanted and I don't want to tell him no. I'm not sure why it's being advertised as a "new trend" ....I guess it's just how the wedding biz works!

I'm a mixed media artist, and I'm wondering if you're talking more about something like this: http://abcnews.go.com/International/photos/artist-creates-clouds-art-15903014/image-15903039

, rather than what the other posters are referring to.

It's very "New Jersey" is all I have to say.

As in, I grew up in New Jersey, and now live in New Hampshire, and I've only ever seen in photos from weddings in NJ, and never at a wedding in New England. Not for me.
