Dare Jenga- ideas!?

Hanna, on October 9, 2017 at 11:50 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 33

So my mom is making giant Jenga for the wedding and I was thinking of adding some extra fun by making it dare Jenga! Just some simple things like "snap a selfie with a stranger", "find the mother of the bride and initiate a thumb war", "share your favorite memory you have with the bride/ groom". Does anyone have any good ideas to add?

Honestly? I'd be really annoyed if I was trying to talk to people at a wedding and random folks kept coming over trying to start thumb wars and take selfies. If you want to do this, I'd make sure the dares have to be accomplished within the group that are playing.

I don't have any ideas to add but I would suggest making sure that if you include any dares that involve other people (MOB, MOG, etc.) just make sure that they're on board with it. I'm just imagining if someone (especially a stranger or someone my mom doesn't know super well) had walked up to my mother during the reception for a thumb war and it would not have ended well lol.

I've already talked with the people that would be involved and they love the idea! The wedding is going to be really laid back and relaxed so there aren't many people who would be annoyed over something like this :-)

I also think the dares should only involve the people who are actually playing. Games are hit or miss at weddings and the best way to ensure that they don't annoy anyone is by making sure that they are completely optional. If people get dragged in by the dares, they may be pretty unhappy.

I'd just do regular jenga. No need to overcomplicate it.

Agreed with PPs, I'm really not a fan especially if it's a group of people I don't know well. I would recommend just sticking to Giant Jenga and leave dares out of it.

Also, you're over a year and a half out, your feelings may change between now and then. Don't do anything that can't be undone or repurposed just yet.

I'm just asking for ideas, if you guys don't have any, that's fine, you don't have to comment, but I know my family and his family. And everyone I've talked to so far thinks it would be a great idea and be super fun.

My friends would love this, my family would hate it. Be careful. Maybe do this for a different wedding related event?

"Don't do that, it's annoying" is an idea. Just sayin'.

You guys also don't know my Friends and family like I do. This is something I want to do and ran by several people already, that's why I was asking for ideas to add to it. I get YOU guys wouldn't enjoy it, but you're also not going to the wedding, the people that are, have approved of the game and given some ideas, I'm just looking for more.

@OP I was just about to say that this might be a case of know your guests'.

Clearly she wouldn't be asking for ideas on the games if she didn't think her guests would enjoy it.

    I have no input otherwise.

It doesn't matter if they don't do the dare, it's just for fun, if it's something they're not comfortable with they don't have to do it. For groups that don't want to do the dares it can be regular Jenga. Like I said, it's going to be laid back, they can do whatever they want with it, the dares are just there for the more adventurous people.

Since your friends and family are on board, ask them for other ideas

I wouldn’t call it dare Jenga.

Perhaps have you checked on Pinterest or googled for topics? I’ve done that for my son’s birthday party when doing scavenger hunts and needed clues.

I get that, and in reality there are a lot of pieces in Jenga so the odds that that 1 piece gets drawn more than 5 times seems kind of unlikely to me. And the people that are involved I had pick their own dares so it wouldn't be something that they would get annoyed with. The best man wanted his to be "find the best man and tell him your best knock knock joke". And as I said before if people don't feel comfortable doing that they don't have to, the game is as daring or as simple as they want it to be. I'm just giving them something extra if they want it.
