Dare to wear a bold lip on my wedding day??

Nic, on May 5, 2018 at 7:48 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 40

Hello dears - has anyone had experience with going with a really bold lip on their wedding day? My wedding colors are deep jewel tones (burgundy, navy, deep greens, etc.) and it will be on the first day of fall, so I am tempted to go with a deep red/wine colored lip for my wedding day. Has anyone else had experience with this? I found a great Anastasia lipstick that works great and stays on pretty welll (I added a quick pic of the color for reference). My sister/Maid of Honor is a very talented makeup artist so she will be helping me with my wedding makeup, but I wanted some input from other brides before I decide to go so bold with this color. Any advice you guys have would be greatly appreciated, thank you! Smiley kiss

I love that lip color and I think it will suit your wedding colors well. ABH lipsticks have great staying power.

My wedding is in October and I’m wearing a deep red lip color.

I love the color! You just might want to make sure HE won't end up wearing it as well, since you'll be doing a lot of kissing that day. But, like I said, I love the color and if that's what you want I think it will look beautiful!

My wedding colors are burgundy and champagne. So I will be wearing burgundy lips as well. I wear bold makeup every day , I love lipstick, red is my favorite all though I never really wear it anymore. But when my fiancé and I first met I had dark hair and red lips he said I looked like Snow White and that was his favorite. So since he hardly sees me with the red lips anymore I definitely wanted that for our wedding day.

I'm planning on a bold color for my wedding day as well. We're getting married in the fall, my dress is ivory ( true ivory, not the slightly yellowish tone ) and with red, yellow and orange being the colors, I've been planning on a nice red lip 😊

I LOVE IT!!! I too will be doing a sexy deep wine lip most likely, because my wedding colors are actually burgundy and blush. Since I’ll be in ivory, I wanted to deepen the look with a deep matte lip like oxblood, wine or something. And my girls will most likely be in a blush color pinky nude lip because they’re wearing burgundy dresses. I think that color compliments your skin tone very well. Love I.t go for I.t!! Good luck

If a bold lip is something you do in regular life, then go for it. I believe that you should look like yourself on your wedding day. A glammed up version, but still yourself

I'm doing a color very similar to yours. I don't wear makeup on a regular basis, but bolder lip colors work better on me! ❤
    I'd say go for it!!

Darker is great but I would go a tiny bit more burgundy with a orange undertone (ask a makeup person about this) to go with your skin tone better. Just like different colors of red, burgundy can be more orange or blue and the right one can really make a difference between looking beautiful and looking like a kid wearing their moms makeup

I don't have any experience with it but I think you should definitely go for that color, especially with your color scheme and the time of year you are having your wedding!

I say go for it! I personally either wear my lips bold (wine, coco, plum, magenta) or just clear gloss, so I don’t really know an in between. I plan on doing the bold lip for my wedding as well, but I think the color compliments you well & goes with your colors.

    Do it!!!
That's one thing I KNOW I'm doing for my wedding. I'm having a moody, romantic vibe. Lots of burgundy and blush. I am a makeup lover and wear it daily. Fiancé jokes that my everyday makeup is what most wear for big events. Lol. So for me to really WOW him for the ceremony I'm doing a complete moody look. Untraditional, but I love it. You will rock that lip color. It's gorgeous.

I did a burgundy lip for my wedding and also did burgundy for my nails. My MUA used a lipstick that stayed in place all day and night and didn't rub off on DH when we kissed.

Yass! I love a good bold lip!

I think the red looks great on you, honestly.

As for me, I plan on going a bit more natural for the ceremony but I'll switch into a more bold look for the reception: my usual winged eyeliner and a dark lip - most likely black.

I've always liked the look of bold lip color on brides, I think it's the perfect moment to have all eyes on you! I've never worn bold lip colors and was certain I would stick to my normal neutral and soft shades. But, I've been looking at bold colors, and my make-up artist suggested adding a little bit of pop. So, she's picking 2 shades and I'm picking 2 shades when I go in for my trial, we'll see what happens.

I’m really debating a bold lip as well! Mine would be a bright red as we are having a December wedding and the bright look would match the bridesmaids dresses. I say go for it, its beautiful!

I had a deep red for my makeup trial and have gotten such mixed reviews, but I love it! I think that color works great for October, and girl, do what makes you feel gorgeous!!!

Definitely do it! Especially if you wear bold lips regularly! Just make sure the lippie has staying power! I plan to do a bold eye and lighter lip for the ceremony and photos and switch to a bold lip for the reception.
