dark colors for spring wedding

Apie, on October 24, 2007 at 2:51 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 6

I have always wanted a spring wedding, but I LOVE darker shades and the elegant feel they give. I pretty much am basing the color off my bridesmaids dresses, and I'm in between wine (deep purple) and cabernet (deep purple but kinda pinkish, like magenta almost) both by davids bridal. But not only can I not decide on a second color to contrast, I don't know what people will think of such dark colors in April

It is your wedding. Don't worry about what other people are going to think about your flowers because it really will be about you and how you carry it off. My experience in the multitudes of wedding I've attended is that I never thought twice about the decorations unless they were obviously poorly thought out or thrown together. A bouquet made with Orchids is beautiful and you can pull through beautiful wine colors without the flowers being considered dark or inappropriate.

You can always match the wine colors against gold, silver, or platinum, or a paler pink/lilac for a lighter color.

Dark colors are fine, but if you want to stick with the Sleeping Beauty theme, they might not work. Either way, Wine and Cabernet are great in spring, in fact they are a nice contrast to the pale colors outside. Just as long as the style of dress fits. No velvet, thats too hot. No long sleeves. I'm sure you understand.

    Hello!

If it helps, I'm having a June (summer) wedding with Black and Turquoise... with bridesmaids in black... it is a nighttime though, but I still you should be able to pick whatever color you like Smiley smile

That is a tough one for the second color... maybe like an old pink shade or a goldish tone of beige or something...

I think you should have what ever colors you want. It's your day! I do think an evening wedding would be good though.

My wedding is in May and my colors are Dark Purple, black and silver. I too am a little worried about the color choice for the Season. But I never was a pastel kind of person and the colors fit our personality more-it just fits Us and people will see that.
