Darker colors used in Summer Wedding - does it matter?

Brittany, on July 6, 2017 at 7:39 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 24

Me and my fiancé are in the beginning stages of planning our wedding for next June. When looking at colors, we really liked the colors burgundy and navy accented with gold and blush. In getting outside opinions, both of our families have said: "those are fall colors" and "they need to be brighter". Personally, we just think the colors would look great together and would look nice at our late afternoon wedding at the vineyard. So what is your opinion? Should dark colors be left for fall and winter or is that an outdated rule of thumb?

    No issue at all.

I mean the only thing to consider is how will all the colours look along with your venue/decor but other than that, go for what you like.

You can do whatever you want! I'm getting married in the fall and our colors are lighter then normal fall colors. People keep telling me they aren't fall colors but who cares, it's your wedding not theirs!!

They are colors you see more often in fall time but oh well, you like them go for them.

We are getting married in winter and will not be using any dark colors. All naturally light colors, blushes, light blues, antique greens all colors you commonly see in spring and summer.

Those are pretty colors. My colors are burgundy and grey for a fall wedding but I loved them together I would still do it if I did a summer wedding.

I originally really wanted fall colors, what changed my mind was thinking about my bridesmaids in the hot sun in dark colors. So we changed to lavender which I think I love even more now!

If you're really worried about the season then do more blush and navy than burgundy.

Yeah I'm having my wedding in October and our colors are light peach pink and purple. No yellow or orange here. I wouldn't stress it.

I think they're fine! Especially if you're getting married in a vineyard, I think that burgundy will be beautiful! Do you, boo!

I'm the same way! June wedding and I keep eyeing "fall" colors. It will look beautiful, especially in a vineyard.

Great question! I have the same color scheme (I think), but was worried it was "too fall" for my January wedding. It's nice to see that most people on here don't give a damn about "season colorings"

Those are basically my colors but blush and gold will be that main ones, with the darker ones as accents. Agree with PPs, your wedding, your rules.
