Dating Anniversary vs. Wedding Anniversary

OldSchoolKindaLove, on February 20, 2020 at 5:42 PM Posted in Married Life 0 27

Is it good, bad, or indifferent whether a couple celebrates their dating anniversary instead of their wedding anniversary? I just wondered what your thoughts are.

We got married on our dating anniversary so that we could still continue celebrating the same day every year.

We will probably celebrate both. We would have never got married if we didn’t start dating! So we may as well celebrate both! But our wedding anniversary will take priority.

I don't think it matters. We will probably celebrate our marriage over our dating (July 20 vs July 4) but I'm sure on our dating anniversary we will do little things, or just do one celebration for both.

Celebrate whatever you want. It literally has no impact on anyone else.

We celebrate both. More to celebrate is a good thing!

I don't think I have an opinion about couples who only celebrate their dating anniversary and not their wedding anniversary, because how would I even know that? Anniversary celebrations are usually private things between couples.

I think we are just going to celebrate the wedding anniversary from now on. Ours isn’t too far apart from each other either

I kinda prefer my dating anniversary. Which sounds silly because we picked our wedding date and not when we met. But we usually do something fun that weekend. And we will probably just have a nice weekend at home on our wedding anniversary.

I feel like we’ll probably celebrate both, I mean our history started when we started dating so it feels important still. It’s the beginning of our story

Our dating anniversary is in November and we are getting married next October. We are at 7 years dating. We decided to celebrate it until 10 just cuz and then just celebrate wedding after that. So only both for the first two years

Moving forward, I plan to make a special dinner and dessert for our dating anniversary and “actual wedding date”. The day in which we have our ceremony and reception in front of friends and family will be the only date formally recognized so we will go big for that. We love to travel so we agreed every 5 years (minimum) we will take an international trip on our anniversary.

We started dating on July 4th but will be Married May 22, 2021. Haven't really talked about what we would do. But I think we will celebrate our wedding anniversary and dating anniversary. I mean we always go do dinner and fireworks for our dating. And probably the same for our wedding lol.

We are getting married on our “dating anniversary” so we will only have 1 anniversary to celebrate

We're going to celebrate our wedding anniversary from now on. I didn't even think to continue to celebrating our dating anniversary...

By pure coincidence we are getting married on our dating anniversary lol, so that takes out any question. I think it's normal to switch to your wedding anniversary, especially after a few years, but if you want to celebrate one or the other or even both, you do you.

I would say indifferent. It's whatever you and your spouse want. Personally, we didn't really have an official dating anniversary. We picked a date after a few months of dating that we estimated to be our 1st date, so we'll be celebrating our wedding anniversary.

Our wedding anniversary will be the day before our dating anniversary. We started dating 04/05/16 and getting married 04/04/20.

I like our dating anniversary way better than the wedding date. Lol I actually dont really like our date at all but we picked it because our anniversary is on the 4th. So we will be able to say happy 4th forever.

You can do whatever you want! Our dating anniversary is in February and honestly I was so sick of celebrating our anniversary when it’s freezing outside lol (we live in the northeast) so we deliberately chose a June wedding date so we would hopefully have better weather to celebrate future anniversaries 😂

A few weeks ago was our first dating anniversary since we’ve been married... it was on a Thursday so we both went to work lol but we did go out to a nice dinner afterwards and exchanged small gifts (I got him a little wall hanging artwork thing and he got me chocolate and some flowers) but we didn’t make a huge deal of it.

We’re planning a vacation to celebrate our wedding anniversary.

After you are married you typically only celebrate your marriage anniversary. But you do you.
