Daunted by venues

Danielle, on November 17, 2019 at 10:11 AM Posted in Texas Planning 0 7
Is anyone else feeling very daunted by the price of venues? I’ve tried to think out of the box and looked at parks, etc. but why is it $5000 plus for a roof, some tables, and chairs?! Don’t they realize a wedding means attire, decor, floral, gifts for attendees, food and drinks, etc? Our entire budget is $5000 😬 I’ve sent out countless emails and “in our budget” apparently means the venue just takes off everything that makes them all inclusive. So discouraged...

    Hey there, Danielle Smiley smile

    Welcome to the WeddingWire community.

It’s definitely a sticker shock once you start getting prices back from venues. Try not to be discouragedSmiley heart It may take some effort, however, I’m sure you will find somewhere you love!

When working with a smaller budget, couples often have a more intimate celebration with a smaller guest list. A smaller guest list means less catering costs, rental costs, smaller venue, etc. Is this something you’re planning? How large is your guest list?

What type of venues are you looking into for your wedding? E.g. hotel, bar, country club, winery, etc.

Sweet of you to reply. We have big families so inviting a few means inviting all and I’m guessing it’s going to be 150-200. I’ve checked normal wedding venues and parks so far. A few country clubs too. The few wineries close were too expensive as well... my mind is just blown with how much people are spending on weddings these days. I even saw a lady taking out a loan. This is ridiculous! Lol

I understand, having a big family can really out pressure on the guest list!

Have you looked in to local community halls?

I haven’t really looked into community halls. I’m not sure where to start with that really...

Yes the first venue in Fort Worth quoted me $7500 to just walk in the door. Our ceremony and reception are 30 minutes apart because of it. It's insane!

Have you considered having a weekday wedding? A lot of venues have significantly lower prices for weekday weddings.
