Davids Bridal adding a Corset to a non-corset dress? Experiences?

Denee aka Now a Mrs, on August 7, 2010 at 9:10 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

I have purchased the Oleg Cassini ct291 and DB said they could add the corset for about $150,which is fine...But will they do ok?

Have you had this done?

I think your dress would look great with a corset back.

I think it would work well with that dress, but I'd go see a seamstress. $150 is really high! I know one girl on here got it done for $40 somewhere.

I agree with Meghan-- you could find a seamstress to do it for much less.

David's Bridal won't add the corset to your dress. It is illegal for them to alter the dress. (At least in our area) I would call and double check that they will actually be doing it and that the quote wasn't a guesstimate of what a seamstress will charge you. Even if policy is different in your area I would check around for a seamstress because unfortunately many David's Bridal stores have a history of being very unreliable.

@color of love - when I was looking at dresses at DB I told the lady I wanted a corset back and she wouldn't listen and keep telling me "we can put a corset back in any of them" and I'm pretty sure I saw it on their alterations price list in the fitting room.

I have to be very honest -- I think you look absolutely stunning in that dress... and adding a corset would just be over-the-top GORGEOUS!!! However I simply cannot condone the bolero/sleeves idea you mentioned on the other thread! Of course I have no idea if your reasoning for a cover-up is due to weather or X... but I just think you look fantastic in that dress as-is! (the corseted back would be great too!) ^^

    Davids bridal does add corsets.

I do agree that the dress looks great without sleeves...My family is very religious and my mother would throw a fit if I went strapless...Of course I have long hair and I'll be wearing it down it curls,so it wouldn't be that bad.

I will have to keep looking around to find something that won't either take away from the dress or make it tacky looking.

I am considering having them do that to my dress as well.
