Davids bridal alterations cost

Jerine, on August 25, 2016 at 5:32 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16

I was wondering if anyone knew what the cost was for the just the first fitting, without any alterations? I want to see what, if any, alterations I need without paying an arm and a leg. Not sure I even need any as my dress fits just fine .

I'm in the same exact position you're in. I have an appointment today at 12. I really don't think I need any alterations my dress fits me in all the right places.

ETA: I wasn't told that the fitting itself had a charge but I can let you know what my experience is like when i'm done today.

I had my alterations appointment this past Sunday and all I needed was the bustle done and that came out to 120$ but my bustle is very elaborate it has 11 points to it. My daughters dress was only 20$ she just needed cups added. So it can go either way. But from my experience the women that helped me Sunday kept trying to figure out ways to make things cheaper. My daughters dress would've been so much more money but she showed me what it looked like with cups and went with it.

I hated my experience at David's. I had my girls with me and the assistant was rude. She would not allow my girls or my MOM to go look for dresses for me to try on.

All of the dresses that he chose for me were way out of my budget. I ended up finding my dress at a small bridal boutique.

@Kalesha I had an awful experience at DB too!! I showed her pics and she brought me dresses that were nothing like what I wanted. Rushed me into one I didn't love, and was rude about it. It came in damaged and had to be re- ordered, and just came in yesterday!

Going for my fitting Saturday. They said it could be around $350 - needs to be hemmed, bustled, and taken in a bit.

Fittings cost nothing. If you decide to have the alterations done you will have to pay the same day.

Seconding Lorith - fittings are free, you pay for the alterations. I paid $185 to have the top of my dress fixed and my bust brought in where I lost weight - they had to move the boning and I had lace over my entire dress. I also was expecting to come in to my second fitting and then have my cap sleeves placed and altered to be a little smaller (and pay for that as well) but the seamstress had put them back on and they looked fine without the extra alteration, so that was my total cost.

I had to have mine hemmed, bustled, and taken in at the waist and it cost like $250. Smiley smile I have heard horror stories about DB charging a lot more and when I asked the seamstress what she thought it would cost she quoted me more so I was surprised, hmmmm!

I had mine done at DB. I had to have it hemmed, bustle added, and my sash sewn in. It came up to around $250. I had a 9 point bustle.

I had a great experience at DB. My lady was on her break when I arrived so the manager stepped in and the first thing we discussed was my budget so that we knew where to look and where not to. When the associate paired with me got back they had an in depth discussion together, and with me, about what I had and hadn't liked about the dresses that I'd tried. The manager then suggested a dress that I had dislike online, because it had the things I loved about the other three dresses and none of the things I didn't. I was skeptical but I was in love as soon as I had it on. They both helped me pick the veil and accessories and I was able to take the dress that day. They were so great with the appointment that I left without exceeding my budget for the dress, and I mean that everything I bought totaled less than my Dress budget! Besides my dress I left with the preservation kit, my veil, shoes, jewelry and a tiara that my daughter (flower girl) loved (for her, not me). Oh, and my slip was on sale so I had that too. My alterations appointment isn't until May, but they were so good at honoring my budget and making me happy that I am not too worried about the alterations.

Not sure if my last message went through.

I just had my fitting at Davids Bridal. I had cups added, a bustle, hemming, a belt sewn on and the top taken in a bit. Cost over $500.

If you're short, to get a hem at Davids Bridal, thats an immediate $175 charge, plus tax.

When I bought my dress, the one that I liked was huge, but the girl promised me it could be taken in by 4 sizes that it needed with no problem, for $100. I brought it in to be altered at a different location, the woman really didn’t think it could be brought in the 3 sizes it needed to look right, but, luckily it did work. Cost of alterations, $340. Length of time for alterations, 2 months. Not the happiest with Davids Bridal. Not to mention the slip and corset were so expensive that she made me buy. I didn’t have any choices.

There will not charge you for just the appointment. Only for the work on the alterations. But Get ready. The alterations can be pricey. I know some that was a Wedding Gown designer. I use to watch him in toddlers and tierras. His prices are about 60% less than others and he is fast.

He is in Baton Rouge and his email is ***********************@*****.*** His phone number is 225-513-8666.

I found his face book page. It is under. He is by appointment only.
