David's Bridal gown preservation PSA

MrsBest2B, on June 27, 2016 at 11:42 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 13

Hey all! We're back from our honeymoon in Antiqua!!! Got in last night at 11 and I'm whooped, but tan and married! Smiley laugh

FIrst order of business was for me to figure out what the hell to do with my dress. David's Bridal is having a flash sale and their gown preservation is $99.95 (usually $189.95) and there is a free shipping code SHIP4FREE

Happy gown preserving!

    Did this.

    Best. Thing. Ever.

You'll get your gown back A LOT quicker than you expect.

Oh that's great! I really don't want to sell it, but I have absolutely no where to put it so I figured this was a good option. At least if it's in a box, I can safely tuck it away in my parents attic until we get a normal sized house. I thought the deal was great!

I'm not sure about the shipping to send. I think it is included. I meant the free shipping code is for the kit to get to my house because I ordered online rather than in the store.

I bought one when I got my dress. I'm glad to see good reviews.

Question: What are you preserving it for? Like what is reasoning behind it? Will it be kept in a box never to see the light of day again either way? (Just asking because I don't know anything about wedding dresses. )

Same question as BoozyBaker! Is it supposed to stay in the box?

I actually don't know if it's supposed to stay in the box or not. I think it just preserves it so it doesn't yellow too soon. I don't think though that if you wanted to break it out and wear it again, that you can't. They clean it and basically neatly put it away for you in a storable box. My whole reason for doing it is basically storage.

It's supposed to keep it from yellowing over time. You can do it if you want to keep it for your children some day or if you want to sell it in the future.

Seems worth it as just dry-cleaning it costs more than $99!

My dress has been in the closet since my November wedding. EEK! Need to do something about that!

I've heard horror stories about this. Like them losing your dress. And others where the process they use MADE the dress yellow. And others where they do nothing but put the dress in a box and tell you not to open it.. When you open in years later, it was never cleaned, they just ripped you off.

Thank you! I've been looking to get mine cleaned for $100 or less. I want to donate it but I'd like it to be cleaned first.

Do they do dresses that aren't David's Bridal?? That's a good deal!

My dress doesn't have to be David's Bridal, mine isn't.
