Davids Bridal really closing?

Ally, on November 11, 2018 at 5:35 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 7

I mean, I highly doubt ALL of their stores will close even if so (I am in NJ-heavily populated, plenty of DBs around). Two of my bridesmaids just ordered their dresses and I already have my wedding dress at home (so I am safe regardless). Worst case scenario I would have to front the money for the already purchased dresses or mix them up.

Anyone else hear anything? Is it likely they will be closing before the summer if they do? I am not kidding, my DB stores are always PACKED. They would not even let me go look at the wedding dresses with my two bridesmaids on Saturday bc they were booked with appointments.

Filing for bankruptcy doesn’t always mean closing. From what I’ve seen they seem to just be restructuring their debt.

Even if they declared bankruptcy it doesn’t mean they’d go out of business. Close a few stores, probably. I wouldn’t stress about it.

That is what I would assume. They are the largest bridal supplier worldwide. In fact, I went with them because its easier for all my girls to get their dresses lol. I myself, looked in boutiques for my wedding dress- the prices were absurd and the dresses didnt do much for me. I went to Davids as a last resort and loved two of the dresses I tried. They still were not cheap either. :l

They have about $750 million in debt and online sites and fewer marriages are hurting them. But from what I’ve read they still sell 1 out of 3 wedding dresses in the US. They may close a few struggling stores but they should be fine. There’s still a spot for them with budget brides.

So, before I bought my dress at David’s Bridal yesterday I told them about my concerns about the company filing for bankruptcy/closing. I talked to the store manager and she told me she they’re not planning to close down like Alfredo Angelo did. She mentioned she just came back from one of those big corporate meetings and David’s Bridal has future plans (which, tbh, I’m not 100% sure if I should mention here) which means they must have some kind of money to invest into these future plans. She also said if I purchased a dress (which I did), it was guaranteed to come in. On another note, they told me my dress would be ready for pickup before the end of this year and it was on sale so I took that risk~

They told me it would take a few months to get mine. I got it in one month lol. I wouldn't freak. They also told me they just remodeled the NYC store and expanded it. I do not see a closing soon. Maybe in the future. I am hoping lol
