I bought a dress, and I loved it. I needed some things altered, super simple things. The hem, the bustle, and a lining on the top of the dress. I went in for fitting, paid $500 for alterations, which is 2/3rds of what I paid for the dress.

On pick up day I put my dress on to find they had taken it in, cut the arm holes, used white string for the bustle, didn't line the top and didn't fix the straps. The end result? The dress is too small in the ribs now (that part fit without alterations), the bust is saggy, the bustle is so visible and looks incredibly cheap and nothing was done about the straps. Further, when expressing my concerns very calmly despite being in an internal frenzy the alterations Manager told me I failed to communicate it correctly ( my receipt says otherwise), that I was exaggerating the transparency of the top (I have a large bust that was very very visible from many angles). As I tried to communicate further, she went on to blame the lady that completed my fitting, she shushhheddd me!!, she said the directions were unclear and she didn't call me because " She only deals with customers in person".

She went on to tell me she will make an exception on charging me further to complete the work that I had already been charged for, that she can PATCH the sides to make it fit again and will find a fabric close enough to line the inside of my dress. I am in around $1300 bucks now and have a Frankenstein dress. I had to purchase a complete new off the rack dress from another store (Brilliant Bridal in Denver, Colorado who were amazing and supportive and did an awesome job at giving me confidence back since my wedding is in 26 days)

Even if they have the dress of your dreams, go somewhere else for alterations!!!!!

I took my reception dress to David's to be altered. I was very specific about what I wanted. I needed the bust and waist taken in, a hem, wrist loop and cups sewn in. They ruined my dress. I was already disappointed just looking at it because I could tell the waist had not been taken in enough and the cups looked very flimsy/cheaply sewn in. It should've been a red flag when the seamstress said she had only worked on basic alterations in the past.
I put on my dress and the bust was so tight I was spilling over and the rest of the dress just kinda laid on me. This was supposed to be my '2nd fitting' so I spoke up and asked if they could take the waist in more because it was hanging off of me. They proceeded to tell me that they didn't have enough time to do anymore alterations on my dress. They made me sit in a chair because they were trying to prove to me that they made the right choice in not doing what I originally asked. There was so much room in the waist that the fabric was bunching up. They then told me they couldn't do it because the seamstress there wasn't skilled/comfortable enough to work with boning. Umm🤔? Why are you doing wedding dress alterations then?
I can tell they attempted to alter the waist because the boning is now in an awkward spot and poking out. I unfortunately won't be able to wear the dress. Ladies, you get what you pay for. Thank God I took my ceremony dress to a local wedding tailoring shop because they did an AMAZING job. Lesson learned. Pay the money 💸💸 and get it done right the first time!
