I just got an email from a Mary Kay rep stating that my name was selected to win a free bridal makeover package. I believe when I first got engaged I signed up for a chance to win a free wedding dress from David's Bridal, but I don't remember anything about Mary Kay or a makeover. The email was sent...

I just got an email from a Mary Kay rep stating that my name was selected to win a free bridal makeover package. I believe when I first got engaged I signed up for a chance to win a free wedding dress from David's Bridal, but I don't remember anything about Mary Kay or a makeover. The email was sent from what looks like the rep's personal email and said to call or email her within 30 days to claim my prize. I emailed David's Bridal asking if it's legit but I probably won't hear from them for another day or two. I don't know. Legit or shady?

Not actually a makeover...its a sales pitch and you have to put on all the product yourself.

It's definitely a sales pitch for a party. It's such a skeezy way to do it. I fell for it :-( I was told a friend gifted me a free facial for me and some friends (mostly likely she took the referral list from that friend and rephrased it... instead of "So and so told us you might be interested in hosting a party" they change it to "You won a free facial/makeover/etc.!" So annoying!). I thought, "Well okay sure I'll do it." Only my MIL came, but it was too late when I realized just a couple days before that this was really a setup for a party. I wish I would have just cancelled, but I didn't. And then I'm too nice and actually bought some items and spent $80 because I felt bad she drove an hour and a half each way to my house. Ugh, can you tell I'm annoyed?! Don't do it unless you LOVE Mary Kay stuff and want to host a party.

It is a prize in the sense that you will get a bunch of free samples and a day of pampering. There is nothing shady about it, she will just attempt to gain you as a customer. My sister is a rep and they use things like this to get face to face interactions. I love getting free facials and going to their parties bc I religiously use the products (very sensitive skin here!) And their makeup makes me all warm and fuzzy inside LOL. ETA if you request it they WILL apply it for you (or at least any MK rep worth their salt will)

Davids bridal sells your contact to every vendor possible! I find it soooo annoying! If I only knew the amount of emails I would be getting I would never set foot there.

Sorry we all get that email, they will try to sell you products. I totally skipped it

I received something similar and I’m still not for sure if it’s legit.

I love Mary Kay. I love being pampered for free. Yes I am a rep. We don’t actually try to be pushy or sell anything you don’t want. We hope that by trying our products you will decide you really like it and want to order. I love making women feel beautiful and really usually when you try our product you really can feel the difference. So. Just saying we love to party and have fun I give away gifts play games and just have fun and maybe sell product but we don’t want no one to feel pressured. And only people that decide on THIER own that they like it and want to order…. Our products are awesome We just love and believe in our products. That’s all. Hope you have a wonderful wedding sweety.
