David's Bridal.. yes or no for gown?

Personally Im not a Davids Bridal fan for wedding gowns but their bridesmaid dresses are pretty good! I don't mean this disrespectfully to any ladies here who got their dress from them, just personal preference

I love my gown also. It was affordable, beautiful, the customer service was amazing and the alterations were affordable. We also got our bridesmaid dresses there as well as most of my accessories and a pair of my heels.

Define really expensive? I actually have no idea what to expect. That's why I'm leaning towards a much cheaper dress.

I have an hour glass figure. I'm a size 4/6 in pants but a 32H in bras. I have the hardest time finding dresses that for or bathing suits. So I'm super worried about a wedding dress.

I got my daughter's MOH dress there and love it. On the other end, I purchased a prom dress there for another daughter and the alterations were very cheap (and the lack of quality was equal to the cost).

Because they're a chain, I think alterations are store specific. I think wedding dresses there are of lower price points because they are mostly off the rack and those ordered are from designers with a lower price point to begin with (NOT that their bridal dresses are cheap in quality in general).

In the end- if alterations are the key point, check the reviews on your local store. That will be your best source of information.

I'm not a David's fan BUT I've seen some beautiful dresses come from David's. Some of the ladies on here come out of there with some really gorgeous dresses. I don't know anything about alteration pricing though.

If you're not trying to spend a fortune, look into second hand shops as well. There are consignment shops that hold discontinued dresses that have never been worn and top of the line designer dresses that have been worn but are clean for a fraction of the original price.

I didn't go to look there but that's partly because on the weekend you have to get an appointment weeks in advance & then it's impossible to find parking at my local one. Once you get in there it's packed. My sister are going to go on a weekday to look at bridesmaid dresses though.

Personally, I have not been a fan of the bridesmaids dresses but that's just me. Our David's is small and doesn't have a huge selection. Honestly, just go look, probably fora corset back so you can't fit the girls and cinch in that waist!! Wedding gown sizes are bigger than regular dress sizes. And I think depending on how much you need altered a couple hundred is max for alterations.

I've had great experiences there for bridesmaid dresses. Had an absolutely awful time shopping for my wedding dress. Like, scarred for life. It's hit or miss, depending on the store. Worth a shot if you're trying to decide.

I bought my dress from DB. So far, I've had a wonderful experience. It probably really depends on the employees of your local store. I would check reviews. I also had my alterations done there and I was happy with them.

OK I guess I'll keep both appointments and see what happens.

Has anyone here been in the sane situation and needed alterations? Also, people say I can do a strapless with a corset, but I'm nervous of my girls popping out while dancing.. haha

I got my dress from there...but went somewhere else for alterations. Too pricey. But my dress was gorgeous! Got my bridesmaids dresses there and will probably get my mother's dress from there too! I have high praise for them!

Although my bridesmaid is very blessed as well and we couldn't do strapless with her BM dress...but found a gorgeous alternative that everyone loves!

I got my gown from there. Bad first impression, but really good consultant, so overall good experience. I LOVE my dress, and it was a DB exclusive. I haven't started alterations yet, so nothing to report there.

I love it there! I got my gown and the bridesmaids dresses there (: I had the same lady help with both and have nothing but good to say about her and the store!

I got my dress for my first wedding from Davids and I loved it.

So I went back to try again for my second wedding. It was terrible, the consultant was too busy to help and really didn't seem to even like me- so I went to 7 other shops.... and didn't find a thing. Through online shopping I stumbled across 'THE DRESS', I knew as soon as I saw it. But, it was at David's. So I reluctantly made a second appointment, and it was great. Same consultant, but it was a weekday afternoon when it was empty and she could focus on me. It made a world of difference. I am glad I went and gave them a second shot, I adore the dress, and it was super inexpensive (under $800- everything I saw that was similar in detail and cut at other stores was over 3k).

So, yes, give David's a try.

Its hard to just say Yes or No. I mean... it depends on what experience you have, or if they have the kind of dress you have in mind, etc.

I absolutely ADORE my wedding dress and I found it at David's. It was only $600 too..To me that was an awesome deal.

I got my dress there. It was on clearance for 450. My consultant was great. She actually picked the dress I bought. My choices were not flattering.

My dress budget was around 700 so I knew that my options were limited as far as bridal boutiques.

My plan was to go there first and to go other places if I had no luck.

I got my gown there and got it altered there, and they were great!!
