David’s Bridal Experiences?

Marissa, on June 18, 2019 at 12:56 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 57
I hate to be the negative nelly as I’ve heard that David’s bridal can be a nightmare. But can some of you share experiences there, good or bad? I’ve got an appointment there this week and I want to be prepared. Thanks ladies!

I bought from them online and I can't complain. Dress fit was perfect and it's beautiful, exactly like I wanted it

I had a great experience but it probably depends on which store, and what attendant you get!

I used them for my dress. If you go a weekend expect to be rushed. The store is a mad house and disorganized. If you can score a weekday appointment then do that instead.
They ordered my dress a size too small, which it still fits but makes me nervous. My weight is not well controlled because of my condition so I wanted it a size larger incase. Not sure how it got ordered a size too small because I know I told them size 20.
    Haven't done alterations yet.
They'll try to sell you everything in the whole store so be prepared for that and politely decline as needed.

I've been a DB bridesmaid (only one time). I ordered a dress, it took 4 months to ship which I thought was long. It arrived & was too small and DB leaves no extra fabric in their dresses to be let out. They also don't sell extra fabric like some places do. I called our local DB and specifically asked if they had ANY dress in quartz that was long in my size. She said "oh yes absolutely!" so I went in to buy a new dress. They made me give them my email (I had to unsubscribe after receiving at least 1 email a day for the next week) and called me twice after the appointment for no reason. They didn't have any quartz dresses in sizes 00-5, so nothing I could even make work. They just lied to get me in the store, horrible sales tactic and super useless sales people. I had to find a great seamstress to match the fabric to let it out enough.

I used them for both my wedding dress & for a MOH dress before. I have no complaints. My wedding dress arrived in like 10 days after I ordered. It was the right size. It does need to be steamed, but I’ll handle that after the alterations.

I’m a DB bride and so far, I am pleased! The stylist was amazing and gave opinions and suggestions. I bought my dress way early because I thought it would be discontinued (it went on sale) The dress came much earlier than than they said and sat in my closet for months. I just had my first fitting and didn’t need many alterations which was great because I’ve heard they can be pricey. I never felt pressured or rushed.
With any place, I feel like it depends on the employees to make or break the experience.

I ordered bridesmaids’ dresses there. The attendant was very professional. A bit scatter-brained but who could blame her, it was very busy when we went in and without an appointment. We never had to go looking for her though.😂 so far the dresses coming in have been exactly what we ordered, still waiting on two since their sizes were not in stock but that was only a six week wait.

I had a great experience with them. I ordered my dress online from them and made an alterations appt. The ladies were awesome and super helpful. My dress turned out great. I’m sure each store is different. And never go on a weekend....it’s crazy busy. Good luck.

The DB here didn’t have the best reviews but I went anyways. They honestly didn’t have too much of a selection for what I was looking for, so I didn’t end up finding too much to try on. My stylist kept thinking of dresses and things as we went which was nice, but she walked off multiple times without saying anything and left me standing there in whatever dress I was wearing.
She was nice, but the dresses she was bringing weren’t at all what I said I was looking for.

In the end I enjoyed smaller bridal stores more. The shopping experience felt a lot more personal and not as overwhelming, and I ended up finding my dress at one of them!

I didn’t buy my dress there but had a pretty good experience. My consultant wasn’t overly interested in the dresses, but she was helpful.

I didn't think the employee helping me was actually listening to me, because she kept bringing me strapless dresses when I specifically stated I wanted sleeves. I bought my dress elsewhere.

My 8 bridesmaids did get their dresses from David's though. Some went in to the store to be fitted, some just ordered online. So far no one has told me they've had any issues.

I bought my GORGEOUS wedding dress there last month and had an excellent time! My consultant was friendly and helpful and very eager to listen to me. I got my gown and veil within 45 minutes.

I didn't do most of my alterations there because they're known to over charge, but I did get cups sewn in for $25

Well I haven't had a bad experience with the staff, but dress ordering yes. All of my girls ordered their dresses on the same day in March, one came back 2 weeks later two sizes to small and had to reorder, my MOH and her daughter who is a junior BM have yet to get theirs, they said it won't be till the end of August. I am getting married on Oct 12th. I am terrified bc one came back 2 sizes too small that if theirs comes back wrong with the length of time it took to order it, they won't have time to get new ones.

I had a wonderful experience at David's Bridal. I've read some of the horror stories, and I think a lot depends on location. Not every location has a good management team, and therefore, not great customer service. Also, as someone else said, Saturdays are a zoo, but if you have an appointment, it shouldn't be a factor. You'll have your stylist, and your own dressing room, so it won't really matter how many others are in the store shopping.

I had an appointment, and was assigned a specific stylist. He made me feel beautiful and special, and he was very organized. I had gone to the website before my appointment and favorited a bunch of dresses, so I could show him what I was interested in. When I arrived, he pulled those dresses, and a few more in similar styles for me to try on. He asked which one was my favorite, and saved that one for last to try on. It turns out that last dress was the one!!! As soon as I put it on, I felt it. It was everything I had been dreaming of.

It was a really fun experience, made better by this particular stylist, who was fabulous, and knew just how to handle a nervous bride like myself. Good luck! I hope you have a great time!!

I had an average experience there. I was basically the last appointment of the night so there was no one else really there. I did joint bridal and bridesmaids dress appointment and the attendant was fairly helpful for me (though she did only bring me the dresses I picked out...didn't make any suggestions or anything) but she disappeared once we switched over to bridesmaids dresses. I don't know if she could just tell that it was first appointment for everything and I wasn't ready to commit to anything so she lost interest or if she had closing up stuff to do but we didn't see her again until we were getting ready to leave.

I bought my dress from them. I made an appt on a whim and the experience was fine. It was just me and my mom, no muss no fuss. Will be going back there to look for MOB and MOH dresses next month. I haven't decided whether or not to use them for alterations though, I've heard they are wayyyy overpriced.

I had a great experience at David's Bridal. I had made an appointment for a Sunday in February and there were a lot of people there prom shopping, but we ended up getting there early and they fit us in. The consultant spent a lot of time with my mom and I and listened to what I was looking for in a dress. She ended up finding me the dress I purchased that was everything I was looking for, and it was a killer deal Smiley smile I was really happy, but as others have mentioned, I think it may depend on your location/consultant.

That is where I purchased my dress and honestly it was easy peasy. I set an appointment, went in and told the gal that was assigned to me what I was looking for and she came back with at least 5 dresses to start. I even browsed myself and found a couple. She worked with me the whole time and I found and purchased my dress in less than 2 hours. I think it all depends on who is working with you! Good luck!

Can't speak to getting a bridal gown there, but that's where my bridesmaids got their dresses from, and it was so simple. They all ordered online, and some had alterations done in store once they arrived. Shipping was fast and simple, and alterations/exchanges/whatever worked out well. The only place we had problems was when my MOH, mom and step mom made an appointment to go try on dresses - the IN STORE experience was horrendous. First they had no record of us, then they shoved all three of these ladies in one tiny dressing room, then stuck a consultant with us who visited once, told us we "weren't allowed" to pull dresses ourselves and then disappeared for 45 minutes. (Needless to say, we ventured off on our own anyway - even if we were gonna get yelled at...whatever) Then after she hadn't said a word to us and been MIA for the entire appointment, she knocks on the door to tell us we have 10 minutes and then "need to get out." Needless to say, neither mother bought their dress at DB, and my MOH ordered hers online and took it elsewhere for alterations.
