Yall I'm tripping and flipping out. I have an appt in April to go look for dresses. I pulled up David's bridal where I'm located and have been looking at dresses online most of the dresses I see are hideous the only thing I like are the prices. I'm sure they may have some on the rack but I'm just worried I wont find what I particularly want especially for my body type right at this moment what I'm looking for and how I want it to look. I know I should try other stores but I just moved to Florida trying to step out my shell of being shy and exploring the big city lol any suggestions for plus size brides who may not make it to their goal weight before their wedding in 450 days...#paranoidAsh

I got my dress from David's bridal. I had NO intentions of buying a dress the day I went there. I tried on maybe 7 or 8 dresses and the one I bought was the first one I had tried on. I fell in LOVE. Prior to my appointment I checked on their website and didn't really " fall in love " with anything on the website. Many of the dresses that I tried on I saw on the website and thinking about it now, I think the reason I didn't like many online was because I couldn't see myself in the dress online. Totally different story in person ! My appointment was from 7pm to 9 pm and I was the only person in the store. Go in with an open mind and make sure you tell the assistant helping you EVERYTHING YOU CAN about your wedding day and what you do and don't like. Out of the 7 dresses I tried on I had 4 of them that I kept to the side because they were dresses that I truly liked and was considering. Good luck !

I very much agree with everything in this post! While I'm not a plus sized bride, I did used to be plus sized and understand the struggle of finding what you're hoping for. But I agree that at the very least, go to your scheduled appointment, and try on different things. At the very least (even if you get the awful "David's Bridal Experience" that seems to be the norm...) you can find out what shapes you like, what fabrics you prefer, etc. That way, you can seek out a more specific vision and narrow down where/how you search.

But I also have to say that I totally agree about Morilee (by Madeline Gardner) and those dresses - I had one myself! But I have seen many Morilee brides of ALL sizes on Instagram and every single one looks amazing. If you can find a salon/store that carries that line, HIGHLY recommend it! Affordable dresses and they are STUNNING.

I’ve noticed that it’s completely true that what’s online isn’t always what’s in store and vice versa.
I was also a bit skeptical/worried as well.

& I seriously went to David’s bridal just as a fun trip by myself. (Also thought it would be cool to mark it off of my “bride to-do list” even if I didn’t find anything just to say that I went there to shop for my bridal gown)

Never thought in a MILLION years I’d find my dream dress there either because I only saw the ones online. (Hideous and/or the prettier ones were WAY OUT of my budget on their website) however I went there (KC location) and not only had an excellent consultant who listened to what I was looking for/stuck to my budget, but also found my dream dress here and was under my budget.

Total cost was on sale for $550!

    💕 Congrats! 🎉💍 & have fun shopping!

    PS

just remember that if you’re stuck on not sure which dress is “the one” just imagine which one you can see yourself walking down the aisle in to marry your best friend.
    Thats how I knew. 💕💖

    I recommend going.
I’m a plus size bride and didn’t really see anything that was more than a like on their website. However you have to keep in mind that a dress may look better on you than on someone else or in a picture. And vice versa. What may look fantastic online may not work for you when you have it on.

I would say say to keep your appointment and go with an open mind. Have fun and try on every single dress in the store. And go other places.

Playing in the dresses is by far the most fun part of wedding planning!

I look at the real bride pictures below the dress. That makes me feel good because I see how the dresses look on real woman.
