Day of bridesmaids gifts? Is this a thing?

Jamie, on February 4, 2021 at 8:02 PM Posted in Planning 0 12
I had planned to put together a gift bag for each of my girls but was going to either give them at the Bachelorette weekend or at the rehearsal dinner. It was going to pretty much consist of drink tumblers with their names on them, a nice color lipstick to use the day of the wedding, thank you cards, and possibly a Starbucks gift card. What is everyone else doing for their girls. I'm not into the whole robe thing. I don't really care about getting pictures together in our robes the day of wedding. I could use some suggestions on what to get and when is it practical to give them out.

Give them a thank you gift as if you are shopping for their birthday unique to each individual that they can appreciate long after the wedding is over

Those sound like great gifts. As a bridesmaid, I would be especially thrilled to receive a Starbucks gift card as part of my gift! I would suggest given them the bags at the rehearsal dinner or the day of.

I think what you have planned is enough for a thank you gift! I would definitely include the gift card if it's in your budget.

I'll probably get all my bridesmaids together the night before the wedding in my hotel room to give them their gifts. I got each a nice tote bag with their name on it (similar to a Longchamp bag), a tank to wear the day of, and a personal gift that fits each one of their interests in the $50 range. I wanted to give them something with some thought behind it instead of giving everyone the same gift. Two of them like to cook, so I got an engraved cutting board and a truffle honey, oil, and mustard set. I got another a Kate Spade crossbody and for my sister, a name necklace with her name written in my handwriting.

Shop for each one like it’s their birthday or Christmas. Tailor the gifts to each person’s likes/hobbies.

Honestly, I wouldn’t want a tumbler. I have so many already (from inexpensive ones to nice Yeti ones) that another one would probably just get thrown away. Getting lipstick is also a tricky one. I usually particular about makeup colors so what someone may think looks nice may not translate the same against my skin tone.
Starbucks gift card is a pretty good choice for most.
I did jewelry pieces I picked out from Ring Concierge and Bony Levy/Nordstrom for each specific bridesmaid. Based it on their style and what would go with their current jewelry pieces. However, I made sure they knew that it wasn’t expected that they wear it for the wedding.

I would shop for them like it's their birthdays or Christmas rather than giving them generic gifts. I would also give them their gifts as close to the wedding as possible.

OMG! I had soo much fun getting my bridesmaid’s gifts! I bought a little at a time & ended up spending around $85 per lady. Found totes (that zip) on Etsy that I was able to put their names & a bow on the front - was on sale 5 for $40. Only have 3 ladies so I put together a bag for our flower girl & his mom. Bought makeup bags (Etsy) that has their name outside & on the inside is their title & the date (5 for $25). Silver bracelets (Etsy) 4 for $16 that have a charm that have their initial. Farmers market- found sterling silver earrings & since I bought 3 she sold them for $30 total. I work at a hospital & the gift shop had a clearance sale on specialty soaps & jams $1.25 per bar & jar. Most expensive thing I bought was an olive oil & balsamic vinegar set ($18 per lady) at a specialty shop near our home. I’m planning on giving them a thank you card in each bag.

I gave them to mine the day before so it’s ok if you give it ahead of the day

I think thats all lovely. Im giving mine each a basket at the rehearsal dinner with stemless wineglasses with their names on them, a bottle of wine, a bath and body works candle and lotion, a necklace and a small trinket dish and on my wedding day I'm giving them cute little emergency kit bags I found on etsy.

I think what you've picked out is perfect! Day of gifts don't have to be given the morning of the wedding, and it's perfectly fine to give them their gift at the rehearsal dinner!

If they have different personalities, then it's great to shop for each individual rather than the same thing for everyone. All of my ladies have similar tastes and styles, so I'm just getting them the same thing! I got them a satin pj set from Target (black with white piping). I'm also getting them a wine tumblr from W&P (the Porter glass). I only have 4 ladies, so not too big of a splurge! I'm also planning on filling the wine glass with an airplane bottle of their fav wine/liquor, chocolates, and something personalized.

I always suggest staying away from anything that has your wedding date and/or their wedding title on it. That way they can use the gift well after the wedding is over!

Your gifts sound lovely. My fiancee and I are giving out basic bridesmaids and groomsman gifts during the day of the wedding, but it's just a three-wick candle, and some candy, nothing special. Our main thank you gift is gonna be after the wedding, where we wanna make a mini-album for all of the bridesmaids and groomsmen that were a big help.

The day of gifts for anyone is not necessary but if it's something you'd like to do it's a great touch to the day. I wrote all of my girls a note in thank you cards that was personalized to them. I wrote good memories of the two of us, why I wanted to be a bridesmaid and how happy I was that they were going to stand beside me on one of the best days of my life. For their actual gifts, I gave each of them a bracelet from Etsy that I linked below (they are actually on sale right now for $4 plus shipping!). They all wore them the day of the wedding and a few of them still wear it all of the time. I also made them little hangover kits that had mints, a 2 pack of Advil, gum, band-aids, a small bottle of water & a Starbucks gift card inside. My sister-in-law made the bags that I put the hangover kits in with her cricut so I don't have a link for those.
