Of course you need one. ; ) Fees range from a couple hundred to a couple thousands, so check around to find some that fit your budget, then meet with a few to make sure you are a good fit and they know what they are doing. All of my brides tell me that their stress levels greatly reduce or diminish the minute they hire me. Just knowing that someone is there to make sure everything is going run smoothly is a stress reducer. The day of your wedding you want to enjoy your day knowing that a professional that has worked with your other professionals is in charge. Brides who have a coordinator often say it was the best money they have ever spent.

I'm convinced my DOC is the only reason I made it through my wedding in 1 piece. Smiley smile There are so many different things going on that day, you need someone who can manage the vendors & setup (not to mention helping the bridal party entrance/timing) while you're off getting ready.

Ours came with our venue, so I really don't know what the normal prices are. I just know it can vary based on the services they provide.

I honestly say yes. I don't know how I would have survived without ours. The price varies depending on what they do for you - but ours was worth every penny and more.

The last think you want is to be stressed with details on that day.

I think so. Even if it's a lose friend, or family member. Just someone who knows WTF is going on and know who and what needs to be where and when.

We didn't have one, and did fine. A lot depends on how complicated you make your wedding.

I was thinking i didn't need one, but lately i keep thinking that i do. i might enlist a good friend. just to help. This friend of mine is an excellent multitasker and organizer... so i might just do that!

We have one that comes as part of our package with the venue we have. That lady will be coordinating with the vendors that come as part of our package. However, I am having one of best friends act as a second day of coordinator (I unfortunately did not have room for her in the wedding party so this is how she is being involved in the wedding). My friend is going to make sure that everything is being set up the way I want and I have put her in charge of any extra decorations and favors set up.

I'm not having one, my friend who is into event planning demands that I dont get one and she will handle it plus since it is a pretty small wedding(100) with almost everyone knowing each other, my friends have assured me they will handle it all for me and make sure it runs smoothly.

I am having one. I want to be stress free on my big day. She will be my right hand, personal assistant and overseeing all the small details that I can't. She comes on board two hours before the wedding to meet the cake delivery, she will oversee any vendor issue that arises, she will make sure I have anythng I need, move the flowers from wedding to reception, light all candles at the reception venue, decorate the honeymoon suite, and clean up after everythings done. To me it is so worth it. I get her from 3pm to midnight for the cost of $400.

Depends on the size of the wedding and how complex it is. Are you having multiple vendors? Multiple locations? 300 guests? Fireworks? The more you add on, the more help you'll need. If you have a trusted friend or family member, start there. But if you think you'll need more help, go with a pro.

The restaurant owner and my older sister will both serve as DOC. We're having a small wedding (50ppl), all at one location (a restaurant), and minimal "fluff". Decorations will be set up the night before by me and my family, and will be taken down that night by the same people (I don't mind cleaning up on my wedding night). If we were having a bigger event, I would definitely hire a pro to help it run smoothly.

Having one at my wedding was the best decision I made. She dealt with and arranged everything at my rehearsal and on my wedding day. I don't even know everything she did on the day of the wedding because I was having too much fun. I didn't have to worry about anything!

I didn't want to spend the extra money at first, but I started stressing out too much. we hired our DOC about 2-3 months before our date.

I looked into friends and family, but it was just easier to hire a professional because a DOC would have the experience and interest in fulfilling wedding tasks.

I use to be an event specialist myself. But I can't do my own. It's really hard for me to give the responsiblity to someone else with something that is so important to me. I wish I could do both but I know I can't. My two daughters assure me that they will make everything go smoothly. I am kinda weary of it because they are so young. My oldest is 23 and youngest is 20 but they have seen me work and should know how I like things. I HOPE!!

You should totally get one! I've been to weddings both ways. It seems to be a trend that the weddings without coordinators have really stressed out brides and vendors who have no clue what is happening when. Brides who hire coordinators are more relaxed and all of the vendors know what is going on... so the flow is real nice! You can probably find one that is cheaper because they are not dealing with rentals and all of those details. It sounds like you just need to find someone that can make everything happen on time and get those phone calls in.
