Dedicated June 2021

day of Coordinator

Wondering EXACTLY the roles of a DOC? Wondering if it’s worth it, I am mainly worried about someone who would tell the DJ we are lined up to start our music entrance, someone who would clean up the appetizer table, possibly someone to hit play/pause for ceremony music. Is this in their realm of responsibility? How does this work 😭😭 TIA Smiley smile

It depends on your venue - some venues already come with a manager or day of coordinator

It depends on the DOC and what they outline in their services but yes those are all things they’d usually help out with!! My venue came with an event manager for the night but I still got a DOC because I wanted someone to help me with the execution of the entire day!

Especially with all this COVID19 stuff my coordinator has been a HUGE blessing. Basically she developed the entire timeline for the whole day after talking to me and also working with my venue and caterer and then she made sure all other vendors had a copy of the timeline and that she was aware of all contract details. She’s also coming to the rehearsal at the church and is gonna pass out boutonnières and corsages etc and like everyone up and then help set up decor and break things down and make sure all vendors know where to go when they arrive and if anything goes wrong that day she’s kind of the go to! It was a no brainer for me to hire a pro bc I didn’t want to put that pressure on family so that they could enjoy the day and I didn’t want everyone coming to me bothering me with questions or details lol.

It depends on the individual DOC and what their contracts cover. Helping with the floor plan and cleanup are generally part of their responsibilities. Playing DJ for the ceremony may not be.

My DOC comes recommended from my venue and she is doing full wedding management for us (For 2100) which includes floor design and floral/decor planning within our budget, full set up and breakdown with staff, two in person meetings, unlimited phone calls etc., full vendor coordination, and an extensive decor inventory for us to use free of charge (hundreds of candles, mirrors, frames, signage, easels, champagne wall). She is well worth it for us, especially since it’s a destination wedding!

Do you have a friend or family member who would be willing to take this role? My wedding is low-key small town country. I have relatives filling many roles such as DOC, handing out programs, overseeing food and drinks. I love my cousin Lynn and she’s got that personality to make sure people know what they’re supposed to be doing when.
