Day of Wedding coordinator

I’m so conflicted on what to do ! So I was reading some wedding planning groups and I seen a few people mention they are getting a day of wedding coordinator and how it will take some weight off their shoulders by not having to worry about things on their wedding day , which sounds really nice !!!...

If I could give only 1 piece of advice to future brides it would be to get a planner/DOC. Worth every single penny. We hired ours for planning, design, florals, and day of coordination and it was easily our best decision! Day went perfect and smooth without us lifting a finger! We got to enjoy every second of the day without any worry

It’s the same with me, she’s my friend. However she’s so excited for us, we would not have it any other way. So she and her family will be invited.😁

Local wedding FB groups led me to find our DOC (and a variety of different vendors). The DOC is newer to weddings but has experience in working with several vendors in the area. We’re doing an elopement picnic (just us and the dog) so we didn’t need too many hours or a huge commitment (we’ve planned everything). We were quoted $210 for 2 hours of consult, 3 hours set-up/tear down, and travel. I’m budgeting closer to $300 because I’ve asked her to pick up some rentals and our catering.

I think it really depends on your event.

We did not have a day of coordinator and I would say the day ran really smoothly without one. I'm super organized though and a really good communicator, so I can't see much that a DOC would have done that day that I didn't do in advance. We had a smaller wedding (50 people), our venue did the catering and cake and the bartending service, florist, and event rentals had all worked with the venue a bunch previously, so the only vendors who weren't super familiar with the venue were our photographer and DJ. Additionally everything happened on site (ceremony, reception, getting ready, and photo locations were all on site), so that reduced the need for complex logistics. I could see a DOC being super helpful for a larger event, coordinating multiple vendors and sites, and for couples who don't have much experience event planning or who don't want to have to worry about the smallest detail on their day. Also $500-$600 seems like a reasonable fee, I wouldn't want to spend in excess of $1000 on someone who is pretty much just taking the baton hand off for the day. Spending thousands on a wedding planner seems reasonable, but not a DOC.

Ours was $600. We also went back and forth on whether to hire one or not but decided for it, mainly to alleviate stress on the day in case anything goes wrong and also to have someone help with setup/cleanup and making sure the timeline flows as it should. Hopefully nothing will go wrong, but I think $500-600 is worth it just in case. At a wedding we went to recently, theirs also helped bring food for the wedding party, which was a nice service and something a lot of people forget to plan for.

I was pricing them, between $500-800. I got lucky and the venue includes one - and she really is one, I know most have experienced the venue coordinator being only there to open the building, but it’s part of the price for her to coordinate the day, keep everything flowing.

I have a month of (including the day of) coordinator for $1,000. We are having a semi-destination wedding with most family members coming from out of town so not everyone is familiar with the area to help out. In my opinion, it is worth it. From four weeks out before the wedding, she will take care of everything including the rehearsal. We also got lucky because I’m getting my floral and decor rental from the same company so they will handle everything.

I got one after reading the reviews of other brides when I posted the same question a while ago. I don’t think you’ll regret it.

Ask your venue if they can assign one to you for free for your wedding day. Our venue provided one at no additional cost.

We’re going with a month-of planner which is comparable in price to a day of coordinator. They are trained to make sure the event runs smoothly behind the scenes so your guests don’t have to work. Many have teams of 2-3 people who come to set up and work. Also, a venue coordinator rarely performs the same duties since they only focus on things related to the venue itself: making sure lights are on, doors are unlocked, vendors leave on time, etc. it is very rare for them to do anything for your wedding such as set up, etc and many venues require you hire an outside planner for that reason. The venue coordinator will not step in if your baker or photographer is stuck in traffic or is a no show or any other situation that arises behind the scenes. Your guests can’t smooth that over either because they don’t know your vendors or what your vision is. If your guests are working, they cannot enjoy the wedding as guests.

Yes I was reviewing some day of the wedding coordinator but yes it's more money like a 3rd of what my venue is price is. I don't either want to pay more money so I have someone who has done event planning with my vision board. So really look and research them I hope that you find someone you like

Our venue is a large auditorium in a city park - the price was great but they don't provide ANY kind of set up or coordination and we can't set up the day before, so I immediately thought of a day-of coordinator. My FH said not to spend more than 1000 on it. I looked on Thumbtack and the average was about 1000 but that included the month before the wedding as well (something I don't think I need it but just day-of wasn't an option). I found one for 750 on craigslist.

I've heard it's worth it, so if you can cut back on a couple other things (I'm cut down on my invitation budget) I would.
