Day or Evening Wedding?

Heather, on August 24, 2011 at 7:47 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 38

Saw some posts about the two different weddings and was wondering what everyones preference is, both as a guest and a host.

Personally i hate getting up early so i would hate to have to get up and go to an early wedding especially if it was mine and i had to get up even earlier to get ready! no way. Also in my opinion dinner food is better than breakfast/lunch food and i love to eat Smiley smile

I like the idea of a morning wedding and a bunch reception. I do like it the evening too though.

Evening....as guest and host....that's exactly why my wedding is at 7pm. I just feel like all can enjoy themselves more in the evening then getting up rush around eat, drink and be married and then no where to go at 6pm but home....

I prefer evening as guest and host. To me, the night time has a more party vibe and atmosphere to it. We also want all kinds of lanterns, white lights, etc. I just think night time receptions are more fun!

Also, like you said, I hate getting up early!

If you are a party person, then evening. If you're a brunch person, then day/morning, I guess.

I also prefer an evening wedding as both guest and host. To me, a wedding reception is the ultimate party.

Evening, I like to spend time getting ready ,getting pics beforehand, and it's more conducive to partying! Although as a guest I wouldn't mind going to a afternoon wedding if I didn' t have to travel too far.

I'm having an early afternoon wedding Smiley atonished @1pm then a luncheon reception @ 3pm at an awesome restaurant. We're only doing this cause it's a small intimate destination wedding of 20 and we want to let our guests discover the city at night with us on a city tour or bay cruise.

For regular not dw's I prefer obviously afternoon or evening ceremony and receptions Smiley laugh

If you are on a budget, lucheons can be a wonderful thing. They have all the same details of an evening reception, but with a much better price.

Honestly just depends one what you like as the host. Your guests will adjust to what you want for your big day ; )

Evening. Something about having drinks and dancing when it's still early just doesn't seem right!

Since Jewish weddings can't be on a Friday night or Saturday, usually a morning or early afternoon wedding works best. My first wedding was at 10:30 AM, and my second was at noon. However, this time around I really got the best of both worlds. We had a luncheon reception immediately after the ceremony, and an evening at-home reception with an open bar and dancing three days later.

I am having my wedding at 1 with a lunch reception at 230... Because then we are all going to go out later that night... and for those who chose to go, I thought if we were done with the reception at 4... it would give them time to relax, change or whatever they need to do! I am excitedSmiley smile

I'm debating on this very thing right now. I'm really starting to like the idea of how things will look with soft candle light and softened christmas/twinkle lights as a main light source for the reception. But I'm thinking the same way as you, if you have a later wedding, it gives you more time to get ready. Still don't know what I will do yet :/

I have actually been thinking about Android early wedding (about) 1. Then a luncheon with a jazz band. This is my 2nd so have done and don't wanna do again the big party. Small wedding Android small reception.

I LOVE breakfast. But I don't know how my guests would feel attending a waffle house wedding. HA. Ooooh so tempting!

For me, it really depends on the day. We've gone to both Friday, Saturday and Sunday weddings. I think Saturday was the easiest (from a guest point of view) but I understand why people do Friday and Sunday. Hell, money was the sole reason we chose Friday for ourselves.

As a bride, I worry about the timeline for the day and if my wedding was in the morning, I'm pretty sure I'd have a bridezilla-esque meltdown. Plus, having to wake up early on your wedding day is a total bummer. I'd hate to fall asleep before getting it on (to put it as eloquently as possibly) on my wedding night.
