Day or Evening Wedding?

Saw some posts about the two different weddings and was wondering what everyones preference is, both as a guest and a host. Personally i hate getting up early so i would hate to have to get up and go to an early wedding especially if it was mine and i had to get up even earlier to get ready! no way....

We're torn. We feel that it would be really romantic at our venue to do the dances as the sun goes down around 6 p.m., and follow with dinner... but since it's an outdoor venue, if we have major things happening after sun down, we'll need to consider lighting and other things that add expense. If we did a late late lunch ceremony & reception, it would save money, but I don't want people to feel pushed out.

I think most people prefer an evening wedding, it's just the economy that is making us switch. Smiley smile We have the same 5-course meal for "lunch" that they offer for dinner for 25% off. It's gonna be on a Saturday afternoon reception as a result. Smiley smile

Evening...as a guest and host, I've only been to one early afternoon wedding, frankly I didn't like that, ceremony started around 3, 6pm I was already on my way home with no plans. And I was a BM at a morning wedding by the beach, bride was 3 hours late, by 3pm I was on my way home from the reception.

I have never been to a morning wedding. We're doing afternoon/evening for ours.

We are getting married in our Catholic parish, which has a 5 p.m. mass on Saturdays. So, our ceremony will be no later than 2. Planning on having the reception start roughly 4 o'clock. Everyone can have a let-the-dogs out, outfit change, or potty break!

We are doing an evening wedding, I really don't want to feel rushed the day of the wedding so I figure 10 hrs or so to get ready should probably be enough. However, I also love breakfast so we will be having a brunch the day after the wedding, I wil probably wear jeans to that =).

We had a 1PM ceremony. The main deciding factor in this was that we were having the ceremony and reception at a State Park, and needed to be done and cleaned up by 6PM. Personally, I would have preffered a slightly later ceremony...maybe 3 or 4PM, so everything wasn't so rushed.

Still, our day turned out beautifully, despite the rushing in the morning.

I want lots & lots of candles so our weeding will be 5pm for an outdoor ceremony, cocktail hour @ 530 also outdoors and as the sun sets everyone will be invited inside to the reception which is located on the 10th floor with a view of the city which is perfect for my candles!

Daytime weddings are ok if I'm a guest and just have to show up.

If I could I would have an evening wedding so that I don't have to get up early and rush around all morning. I work third shift so it will be a little ruff getting on the am train. We are doing an early wedding though because we are having a Catholic wedding and the latest we are aloud to have it is 2 pm.

Early evening/late afternoon. Anywhere from 3-6 start time. Later than that and I am starving by the time dinner is served.

And I love the party. The drinking, the eating, the dancing.

Good thing for me is that my family, friends and I can party any time of day or night!! I'm having a 10:30am wedding with noon reception. Brunch food items, good music and lots of bubbly!! My wedding is on a Sunday. Due to religious reasons we don't do weddings on Fri nights and Sat during the day... since most of our family would be attending religious services on Sat we decided to have our wedding on a Sunday. It's not a holiday wknd though so we did a morning wedding. Not to mention the money we are saving! My grandmother is insisting on throwing an after-party in her beautiful backyard too.

Saying all this to say... I can eat, party & drink any time of day or night!

I have not been to many weddings. 1st wedding I was a FG,(My aunt's wedding to 2nd husband) so I don't really remember that detail. I vageuly remember my dress but that's prob cause I have a pic of it somewhere. marriage did not last.

I went to one wedding during the day as a guest w/ my mom. it was a coworker of hers. It was fun, I guess, though can't remember what we ate. I think the ceremony at church was in the morning, and reception was in someone's backyard in the afternnoon.

The 3 and last wedding I attended, I was 13 and I was a bridesmaid. It was my grandma's wedding, a remarriage after we lost grandpa. That was a night wedding, it was so much fun, i remember. There was a DJ, lots of food, and dancing. Was never fond of the groom but the wedding was a blast.

So, I have been to a day and evening wedding before, and the evening was most memorable.

My wedding will be an evening wedding! & i am so excited.

For the weddings I have attended, I prefer evening weddings as a guest. I like drinking and socializing with the guests at a night party. I was in a wedding last year which had a 12 ceremony and the reception was over by 6:30. No one had anything planned for afterwards, but the bride randomly decided she wanted to go out.So we were trying to figure out what to do. We ended up going bowling after, but the rest of the guests just went home. Maybe if we planned something before hand it would have been a little nicer.

For my wedding, I am having a night reception. I want to get up, have a nice breakfast with my parents, make sure everything is done, and then get ready for the wedding. I am sure it will take me a long time to fall asleep anyways the night before, so I want my sleep window to be extra long! I would be afraid I would be rushing around in the morning too much if I had to get up extra early.

I would prefer to have an evening wedding, but our venue wouldn't allow us to have the ceremony/reception on Saturday night bc we hadnt hit their min of 100 guests. Therefore, we are having a Sunday afternoon wedding **** with about 88 guests. Also, even though it is at lunch time we are serving a four course dinner.

Afternoon/Evening so you won't fee rushed to get ready. You want time to be able to embrace your day not remember it as running around like a chicken with your head cut off. You want to be able to embrace every moment. Our wedding was scheduled for 3 but got pushed banck an hour due to rain. But that morning we had breakfast together with all of our guests, take a swim, eat lunch and I then headed to the spa around 12 to get my hair and makeup done.
