Days off before the wedding?

Carlee, on December 2, 2021 at 10:27 AM Posted in Planning 0 12

I am planning on taking a few days off right before the wedding.. any advice on how many days? Also things that I should be doing on those days that I might not have thought of?

I think this depends on how many DIY projects you have for your wedding, if you have a lot of out of town guests you want to visit with, etc. as well as how much PTO you have to use.
I think I will be taking 2 days before off just so I’m not working up until the last minute, I’ll have some time to visit with family before hand, and I won’t be rushing for my mail appt and other things. I don’t have many DIY projects to worry about, if I did I’d probably take at least another day.

We're getting married on a Saturday and I'm thinking I'll probably take off the Thursday and Friday before! Things may change though

It all depends on what still needs to be done. If there is a lot then I would take between 3-4 days off. Definitely see if you can get some help if need be so you aren't overwhelmed. Ask your girls, family, and friends. If it's not so bad then maybe just one day or even 2. My wedding was on a Saturday and I only took 1 day off since there wasn't that much to do, but that day off really helped a lot.

I think this depends on the PTO you have available to you and the stress level of your job.

My wedding is on a Friday and I am taking the whole week of my wedding off (actually taking the week of and the week after so two full weeks so we can go on our honeymoon, and my job requires all full time employees must take two weeks of PTO Consecutively every year)

With my Job, something could happen Tuesday night that I will have to handle and it could take 3 days to fix, I don't want to have to worry about that the week of my wedding.

I am taking Tuesday - Friday off before my Sunday wedding because all my appointments are spaced out and the last thing I wanted to do before the wedding was stress myself out with having much to do in a short time frame. This is what those days look like for me (if it helps):

    - Tuesday: collect hire crown and jewellery + have veil steamed + dental clean

    - Wednesday: clean home and change all sheets ahead of the wedding + eyebrow waxing + spa package for me to unwind before the big day

    - Thursday: mani pedi + pickup family arriving from out-of-town

    - Friday: drop off welcome signs and stationery at venues + pickup suits + welcome dinner for family

    - Saturday: wash and dry hair + fake tans + relaxing!

I took the whole week off the week of my wedding. Honestly so happy that I did. I got all my last minute stuff with time to actually just relax and not worry about anything.

I took off Thursday and Friday for our Saturday wedding. Thursday, I spent going around and picking up last minute items. Friday was a travel day for us, as our venue was out of town and our rehearsal was that evening.

I only took one day off *before* the wedding, and that WAS the day before. I didn't want to take too much time off beforehand because I was going to take two weeks off for my honeymoon, and I'd already taken another two-week vacation over the summer. I would figure out what exactly you'll need to do before then and how much time you'll actually need, plus honeymoon time.

I am taking a week off before my wedding, but I work at a hospital and work the weekend before. I know that I might not need that much time off, but figured I could use the down time. I plan on packing for my honeymoon, making the cocktail hour centerpieces, and putting together the welcome bags. Plus my aunt is amazing and coming in town Wednesday beforehand, so I am looking forward to just spending time with her.

I'm taking off starting on Wednesday, but Wednesday will be spent travelling to the wedding. I had always planned to take off at least Thursday and Friday before hand to finish DIY projects, clean our house (you never know who will want to see it or pop by after the wedding), get my nails done, maybe get a massage. A friend of mine did not take any time off at all and regrets it. I would suggest at least taking one day, but as others have said also factor in your DIY projects and other things you may need to take care of!
