Debating between a photo booth or videographer

Jd, on May 12, 2021 at 5:29 PM Posted in Planning 0 9
I know it’s an odd question but we were initially looking to skip both and just go with our photographer, but thought I would surprise my fiancé with adding one of them.

Here’s my debate...We want just a videographer to produce one of those 5 minute highlight reels for us and not the full blown 4 hour video of our wedding. Is 3-4K worth it for those of you that have done it? I feel like it would be something we would watch again
Now for the photobooth, I know guests will enjoy, but will we really look back on what will most likely just be silly photos of us and our guests after the wedding? It is certainly much cheaper option of the two.
Just wanted some other opinions
Thank you

I agree videographer! If anything you can just set up a cute backdrop somewhere and have props from like amazon and have people take pics with their own phones.

I had both at my wedding and I would definitely choose the videographer over photo booth if I had to pick one. We literally haven’t looked at our photo booth photos since the week after our wedding.

We’ve watched our wedding video a handful of times. It was wonderful to see the parts of the wedding I either wasn’t able to see (like my grandpa walking down the aisle) and relive some of the parts I couldn’t fully absorb on the wedding day (like how nervous my husband looked waiting for the ceremony to start). We’ve also lost some immediate family members since our wedding, so the video of them in a happier time is literally priceless to us now.

    Videographer, for sure.

Not having video from my wedding is my only regret. It is the one thing I would change if I could go back.

The highlight reels are really lovely, and they present the prettiest parts of the wedding. All videographers are different, but most of the cinematic style ones will give you a video that still tells a story of your day, like a little movie trailer.

Photo booths are fine, but they aren't wildly entertaining. I've been to weddings where only two or three guests even used them. And most of your guests will only go in there once. You'll get many more photos from your actual photographer that you will cherish far more than goofy posed pictures in silly hats.

Video!!! We had both at our wedding. We’ve watched the videos a bunch (it just really puts us back in the day emotionally!) and scrolled through the photo booth pics just once or twice. Photo booth is fun, but video is much more sentimental. I will say, I was surprised by how much I loved having video of the toasts and special dances. If it’s a nominal fee to add on ceremony, toasts or special dances, consider adding one of those to your package. 😊
