Deciding on the time for our wedding

Haley, on February 21, 2021 at 3:36 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 13
Hello everyone, hope all is going well for all other brides out there! We have definitely struggled with the wedding planning. With so much still to do and the wedding getting closer I seriously need some guidance. We’ve already had to push the date back it was originally 10/10/2020 and now it’s 6/5/2021. I have yet to send out the actual wedding invitations; so far we’ve sent save the dates, and now change the dates. I’ve been working on the invitations, but we are having an issue of picking out the time for the ceremony. The wedding is going to be outdoors, but sunset isn’t till 8:40 and we of course want to have the golden hour for pictures. The only downfall is can we really make people wait to eat so late? Of course we plan on doing the cocktail hour but I just don’t know what to do. Thank you in advance for any thoughts, and good luck to anyone else who may be struggling like me!

Can you have your photographer pull you and FH aside for 15 minutes during the sunset for pictures?

Can you sneak away for a few minutes to take pictures during the reception?
    8:40 is pretty late.

I'm also getting married in June and doing exactly what Hanna and Cassidy suggested. We're doing a first look to get the majority of pictures out of the way, ceremony start time is at 5 so it's a bit cooler outside, and then we'll just step out for a few minutes during the reception to take additional pictures as the sun is setting.

That’s what we’ve talked about and I know with how he eats there will definitely need to be precautions made lol. I’ll probably also need some touching up.

I agree with Hanna. I would have your photographer pull you aside for 10-15 minutes during the reception to get photos of you and your fiancé during sunset. This is what my brother-in-law and his wife did and they got the sunset photos they wanted without forcing guests to wait until super late to eat.

My wedding is September and at 600pm ceremony time, because sunset is around 630pm. I thought 600 was too late Smiley sad I would maybe see if you could step away during that sunset hour to get some photos of you guys!

We are having the ceremony at 6. Cocktail hour 6:30-7:15. (If even allowed). Then dinner will be served and we will eat then sneak down for sunset pictures. June bride here with an 8:31 sunset. 😊

Totally agree with Hannah- talk with your photographer about what you want. Our photographer helped us set up our timeline & even when we should start.

Will you have a DOC? Mine was super attentive with helping me touch up my makeup throughout the day. My makeup artist also provided me with a touch-up kit with mini versions of the same products she used for my makeup. As for your husband--maybe just tell him to be really careful when eating? I definitely think you should consult with your photographer about the timing and what he/she usually does for sunset photos! I doubt your guests would even notice if you stepped out for 15 minutes to take the pictures Smiley smile

I also had a June wedding, and we were originally supposed to step out for 15 minutes for sunset photos. That didn't work out because it was pouring rain, but when the rain stopped we stepped out for 15 minutes later in the night for photos and none of the guests even noticed

Eat dinner at the regular time and slip away for a few minutes to take pictures. Discuss this with your photographer. 9pm is way too late to start eating and most venues have a midnight curfew to be out.
