Decorating a banquet room???

TiFille, on February 9, 2009 at 9:52 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 6

Having a low budget for our wedding, we rented a banquet room that is actually a part of an Italian restaurant, for our reception. We are responsible for decorating the whole thing...the venue provides/includes tableclothes and napkins, that's it. Anyway, I was looking to see what people, who have to decorate their own venues, are doing. Basically I am looking for ideas. Do most people just decorate with flowers and/or centerpieces, or is there more to it?

The ideas are limited for decor for weddings these days. Feel free to go to my website at www.suzannemsmithdesigns.com for great ideas.

If the room decor is Tuscan or Italian in feel, try using rustic ceramic pots filled with live plants and maybe a strand or two of faux grape clusters. These look amazing and will cost less than a full floral arrangement.

Of course simple vases of cut gebera daisy or summer flowers in your colors can be a pretty and basic touch.

Take a look at our award winning Vineyard wedding for some inspirartion!

Have a wonderful wedding, and feel free to e-mail me for more details. I'm happy to chat with the wedding wire gals!

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. I don't know if you are have any Italian in you, but a traditional wedding favour are candied almonds. You can get corks and cut a slit in them and place your seating cards in them. For center pieces you can have wine bottles with artificial grapes draping down the side. It is traditional for the bride and groom to walk around with a tray of italian cookies before the end of the night and thank guests for coming. There are hanging grape clusters and red/white/green bells.

Hope some of these ideas are helpful!

I love the look of draped chiffon. If you could find big sheets you can drape them from the ceiling. This was the best picture I could find in a pinch, but you get the idea!

I like the look of columns with ivy wrapped around them and plants on top. I also like the chiffon/tulle draped around the room or from the ceiling. But i also like the white chinese lanterns. Maybe a nice water feature in the center of the room or of to the side. You can also rent trees w/ lights. There are also the short columns with vases of your flowers. I best suggestion is to look online for wedding decorations and you can get some great ideas. There are rental companies around town that can supply you with what you need. Or look for decorating business. good luck.
