decorating a cheesecake

Aronna, on July 31, 2013 at 11:56 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 22

I think I just decided to have cheesecake for my wedding cake. I thought they had stopped selling cheesecake company cheesecake at the stores, but apparently I was mistaken.

Good! now I can serve that!

when I graduated high school, the local cheesecake place decorated my cake in some kind of piping gel. I was thinking about doing something like that perhaps.......

any ideas on how I can decorate a cheesecake, where I can get the stuff? my wedding is all DIY.

who else is having cheesecake and how will you display it?

I'm a purist. Straight up, New York style cheesecake is the best.

What look are you going for? I have decorated many cakes and cupcakes in my day.

What type of cheese cake? What kind of decoration are you envisioning?

I'm imagining frosting gel on cheesecake and not liking the flavor combo. Maybe do a NY cheesecake and pipe whipped cream on it in swirls or something?

No piping gel! It'll ruin the taste of a beautiful cheesecake! Use strawberry or raspberry jam or coulis to decorate.

I am thinking something simple, yet elegant. Like this? You could also do a main cheese cake for you and then make mini cupcake cheese cakes for the guests.

Oh yeah what @Out of the Window said! Great idea! OR maybe even chocolate swirls.

I like what Stacey posted. If you didn't want fruit or chocolate, maybe you could do something simple with flowers on top or around. I'd avoid piping gel also. If you did flowers, keeping the cheesecake plain you could have bowls out with different fruit toppings for people to choose from or some fudge sauce or something so every guest can do flavors of their choosing.

Fresh flowers are a really good idea too.

I would get like an old time kinda ketchup/mustard bottle and fill it with fruit syrup

Of some sort and use that. It won't make it too lively but it'll make it pretty

I agree with @OTW. That would be an excellent idea! I also like the idea of the mini cheesecakes for the guests.

The cheesecake will be from cheesecake factory, (the plain kind from the store) on the bottom, then either smaller cheesecakes on top, or a lighter cake if all cheesecake is too heavy. I WANT 3 tiers, but that will take some ingenuity due to weight.

maybe one or 2 tiers on some fancy tall table thing to give it height.

my dream is to have flowers on my cake.

I'm thinking maybe 'gum paste flowers' that look very real, edible, and last forever. Like a few roses on the top, or maybe a magnolia if I can find one in the shops.

cupcakes are a good idea for some, but I don't like them. I say that's for birthdays, not my wedding.

I am open to fruit, but it would have to be raspberries since I have food allergies. Strawberries are a no no.

1st choice is the gum paste flowers, but I need a B plan in case it gets too pricey or I don't like the available flowers. selection varies.

Gum paste flowers can be more expensive than real flowers. I personally have made them before and depending on which ones you are looking for, can take hours and days to finish. So keep that in mind when choosing gum paste flowers. For example, I made small mums for a b-day out of gum paste. 1 flower took me 2 hours to make because of the detail.

Also, gumpaste is not very edible...you would not want to eat them, especially after they dry.

I think it would look very nice if you had 2 or 3 cake stands are different heights, would look very pretty!

If you want 3 tiers in cheese cake form, it can be done but you would need to make sure whomever is putting it together to dowel!!.

I had cheesecake for our wedding cake. It was completely covered in chocolate ganache since I HATE frosting. It was tiered and decorated just like a normal cake.

I was thinking of having three different flavors and haven't decided yet on the toppings.

Stacey: is that cream on the cheesecake or some kind of frosting?

I love it. I went to a wedding that served mini cheese cake and it was a big hit.

On cheese cake you will want to avoid frosting. Since it is already very rich, adding more sweetness can make it not enjoyable. I would finish it off with some chocolate ganache or some sort of fruit topping spread over. You could add whipping cream as a border, as it isn't too sweet.

Aronna, all the pictures posted above are with white or regular chocolate ganache. The rest is a fruit glaze.

SIL got her wedding cake from the Cheesecake Factory. She just had 2 smaller cakes that she let them decorate it. Nothing too fancy, but then she had a simple wedding with about 40 guests. They were white chocolate raspberry and so delicious!!

    BethBlue1115:

That is totally what I want! A 3 tiered stacked cheesecake with white chocolate ganache. I am buying the cheesecake but planning on assembling it myself. Should I use some sort of separator between or just use dowels to connect all 3 layers?
