The bathrooms at our venue need serious attention (honestly need to be completely redone) and I'm trying to figure out some ways to liven them up with inexpensive details. The bathroom stalls are a horrible red color and some of the paint is cracking, the counters need to be redone, and there are old carpets and a bench that are decrepit. We didn't see them until after we booked the venue and were planning, and I was horrified! I already have the makings of baskets for the ladies/mens rooms with things to freshen up (nicer soap, mints, ibuprofen, tums, feminine hygiene products, hairspray etc.) If we have any extra eucalyptus and flowers left over I can put them in a vase in each of the bathrooms too but that's not guaranteed. Any other ideas would be appreciated! I was thinking of doing something like the picture attached with tulle and flowers instead of burlap bows to help add some pretty details, but I have no idea how much tulle to buy for each stall? Has anyone done this before? How much fabric did you need for each one? I have nothing to practice on so I have no way to estimate! Thanks in advance Smiley smile

Maybe add a vase of flowers and some inexpensive handsoap... but other than that I would not give it any attention. It should not be an area you worry about.

I think it would be like putting a flowered hat on a warthog, and call attention to the extreme ugliness underneath. Fabric absorbs and holds smells quickly. Anyone who stops at a smoky bar and after an hour walks out with a stinky sweater knows that. After two hours of vaporized urine smell, absorbed by the fabric and not taken away by the ventilation system, you might find their smell more offensive than the bathrooms' appearance! It might be cheaper to offer the venue 2 gallons of high gloss enamel paint suitable for stall doors, in a neutral color, or midtone blue , if they will cover the labor. Tell them if you had seen the nasty cracked paint and ugly color, you would never have signed the contract, and they probably ha e lost business from people who did look at the bathrooms and moved on to other places. Implying, that in the long run they are losing business, and you helping with paint cost , so they deal only with labor, is a good deal for them in terms of future business. Worth a try. Did you check out the men's room?

I was going to say lipstick on a pig, but flowered hat on a warthog is a superior mental image!

I was going to say a tutu on a musk ox, because my daughter got a large stuffed musk ox from her grandparents, and playing dress up found the tutu skirt from her costume box fits in it. But I wasn't sure anyone knew what one looked like. Lipstick on a pig is good, especially a muddy pig, I can picture it 😊

I think offering paint to them is a brilliant idea.

OP, I am one that would really need to freshen up the space as well, so if you're allowed I would put a softly scented candle, maybe a big mirror if you have an extra (I have several stacked around, am I weird? LOL) I would do some VIPoo or Poo-Pouri along with a legit bathroom basket.

    Basically make it nice!

After I posted, I asked hubby what it cost for the paint for our 4 individual bathrooms, 2 in the side of a small barn between our apple orchards and market garden acreage, 2 in a utility building by our maple trees and berry patches. 3 of 4 walls ( tub tile wall) and both sides of exterior metal doors. Two coats of paint . One 5 gallon Behr oil based semi-gloss enamel, rated indoor outdoor, and for metal, plaster, wood. $145 . Do not know what just doors and posts in 2 restrooms like pictured would cost, but the 5 gallon rated one coat over 2000 square feet, two coats 1100 square feet, so that would be more than enough. Even inexpensive material takes time to cut, put on fasteners, put up and down on wedding day. So if not on a tight budget, asking them to paint if you provide paint should be semi-reasonable. Then just a basket or 2, and something bright, clean and done. Alternative to cloth drapes for doors.

If the stall doors are laminate, they’ll end up looking like chipped laminate covered in paint.

I’m pretty fussy about bathrooms, I was the only one sober at Bonnaroo because I won’t use a port a john. I wouldn’t notice something ugly as much if it smells good. That could be fixed with a couple of candles and some nice hand soap.
