Decorations for a Bull Riding Arena

Suzanna, on March 24, 2012 at 3:41 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 25

I am having my wedding at a bull riding arena and I would like some ideas on how to decorate it. We are using the bleachers there and I am not sure how to decorate them. Also, any other ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Also, my wedding colors are chocolate and turquoise with a touch of cream and orange. Thanks to anyone who can help me out.

Horseshoes, bales of hay, burlap, lanterns, stand alone shepherds hooks using the burlap going up and down the aisles..... mason jars with flowers in them

That's just to start and right off the top of my head

Love your choice, very interesting!! Are you going for a country theme or something more formal? Do you have a picture of the space so we could give you more ideas?

I agree with Kimm p. you could do some great decorating with some hay bayles you could use them as the seating for the guest, and use some fabric on top of each one maybe alternating that matches you wedding colors.

and for little details like the cake cutters, pen and guest book, you could use something to the ones below?

The horse shoe sign things are also really cute! I am sure you could find a way to incorporate them Smiley smile and I found this great post on weddingbee that may be of interest to you! Smiley smile

I would love to be able to use the hay bales; however, the owner does not want us to because he says it is harmful to the bulls. We are going to use the bleachers they already have set up; however I cannot figure out how to decorate them.

Well you could use bows in alternation brown and turquoise and then use ribbon or streamer to wrap around the railing?

Maybe attach some small wheat bouquets or arrangements to the railing or set them up on tables in mason jars with bows in cream and orange to bring in your other colors? or do something similar to the ones below?

I am not sure how the guest get on the bleachers if there is a walk way to the back of them or up the front or what ever but you could do mason jars hanging on shepard hooks filled with your wedding flower or the wheat? and have twine or something similar holding cute horseshoe charms?

You could also use some old cowboy boots in different ways. Instead of bales of hay how about bales of alfalfa - that's usually better for animals to eat. It's also a little more expensive - but maybe you could find someone there and borrow a few just to use.

I wouldnt go the alfalfa route. Too expensive for one and also if anyone has allergies it may drive them crazy! I dont see why hay would be harmful as long its what the bulls usually eat..though he may just not want it to mess up the footing. For covering the bleachers could you just get some material and make covers yourself? love the wheat decorations as well!

If you are doing a mid afternoon wedding, you may want to find something to cover the bleachers with so they don't get so hot. You could do something like taking old sheets like on the hey bails and tie them off at the ends to hold them down. If you want to incorporate old boots like Kimm said you could use them as "vases" at the end of each bleacher instead of mason jars so you don't have to worry about them breaking, and fill them with flowers or the wheat Smiley smile Boots with flowers or wheat could also make for a great centerpiece for the reception it would stir up some interesting conversation, but I would suggest going with a shorter boot that way you guests can see across the tables Smiley tongue As for a reception I found this cool pic while I was looking for "western themed weddings" it would be a simple and fun way to have a relaxed reception that flows with your theme, just a thought though!

OO OO! Cowboy boots with flowers in them! Cowboy boot with flowers in them!! That will be adorable!! And I think twinkle lights would be a must Smiley smile You could also find some old rusty looking bathtubs to hold favors (depending on what you are doing) or for beer/soft drinks/bottled water. A fellow bride friend heard a wedding planner speak recently about the latest wedding decor trends and how the rustic chic trend is so popular. But he said "No one should be throwing a rustic wedding unless you are having your wedding in a barn!" So you are one of the lucky ones!! It is going to be so cool!

Hey what about getting super long burlap table runners to cover the bleacher seats? you could anchor them down a few times along each bleacher with a boot or a mason jar with simple wild flowers?

I love this thread Smiley smile such a cute theme!

I agree with Maggie, old bathtubs make great pieces for weddings, you could do what she said and put the favors in them, or I seen this picture and I can't find it for the life of me but a couple filled it with ice and used ti to hold the champing it looked so pretty! If you rather do something a little smaller you could use I think that is burlap and wrap it around a bucket Smiley smile you could put flowers or champagne inside! I also ran across this cute idea while searching for that darn picture, you take a little wagon (new or old should wore fine) and fill it with a plan, grass, flowers, w.e. I think in the picture they have their favors set in the grass Smiley smile And I also found this cute number idea on the same page as the wagon thought it was super cute and that you might like it Smiley smile

Oh those table numbers are adorable!!! You could also get your flower girl and ring bearer to carry cowboy hats like this! http://pinterest.com/pin/219761656786776938/

If you would like, @Whitney and I can just plan this whole thing out for ya hahaha!

Maggie that is sooo cute!! OH we could but that would take away from her :/ BUT we could do it together Smiley laugh

OOOO I found more cute ideas!!! Smiley smile Continuing with the wheat idea, this bouquet is soo pretty, but maybe a few more flowers? Cute favors that may get a little pricey idk how much old horseshoes are going to cost you but you may want to check into this Smiley smile the tag says "hang above your door way for good luck love (bride & groom)" It goes great with your country theme Smiley smile Also I found this great arch that you could decorate however you want, you can buy it on etsy but I would just save my money if I were you and find someone that is good with wood and have them make one for you, its better than spending the $400 on etsy! I have more pictures I will post them in another comment for you Smiley smile

This cute be another cute idea that you could do for centerpieces, you could put blue hydrangeas in these cute little burlap wrapped cup sized vases and at the end of the night you could give them away or keep them, if you buy them large enough you could actually plant the flowers inside, but maybe drill a hole in the bottom to allow water to get out so you can water them and not drown them! Smiley smile and then I also found these cute candles I don't know if you are interested in them but they are kinda neat, you could place one on each side of your guest book? or find somewhere else to place them Smiley smile

Edit* I totally forgot that I wanted to share with you this nifty idea, it would make a great gift for you BM or wedding party or what ever but its called pie and a jar! You basically take all the thing you would make a pie with and layer them in a mason jar, I am sure I can find the instructions for you somewhere, if you PM I can send you the link (when I find it Smiley laugh)

Wow ladies! How in the world are y'all finding these things? I have googled and googled and most of what I have found, which isn't much, I hate. I LOVE all these ideas! Keep them coming lol! We do have a very tight budget because my father is paying for all of it, so ideas that are cheap or diy are very much appreciated. Anyone have any ideas about what to put down for us to walk on? I would like to put some kind of plastic tarp or something but I don't know where to find something like that. Thanks again!
