Delay Issues with Mini Wedding Dress

Melissa, on August 7, 2021 at 11:59 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6
Hi all, I ordered a mini dress in March 2021 for my ceremony end of this month and was told it would be ready just in time for August 2021 (cutting it close for the 5 month mark of dress being ready). At first, I was told in April it would be ready May 15th, then didn’t hear from them until mid-June saying it’s delayed. I was then told mid-July that it would be shipped within a week. It’s been 3 weeks since their last update. Is this normal? I already paid for the dress and was promised twice that it would be ready and shipped to me by now. Besides that, it takes one month for them to respond to an email-they don’t have a phone number or store to go to. I’ve never been in this position before and would like some advice.

I should mention that this is a small designer out in Los Angeles that recently received a ton of publicity due to their collection. I bought it online as they did virtual measurements and consulting and had great reviews and people wearing the dress.

Many bridal dress companies are in China and there have been many manufacturing delays due to Covid (lack of workers, high demand for online dresses since many bridal stores were closed for months) there have also been major shipping delays (not enough shipping containers and truck drivers). I am sorry I don't really have any advice other than to buy something off the rack at Nordstrom or David's Bridal. Ordering a dress 5 months before wedding is cutting it very close.

Sorry, I saw this after my post that the designer is in LA. However, the dress could still be manufactured elsewhere and if they're as popular as you say then they very well could be been slammed with requests.

No worries! Smiley smile I did buy a couple of back up dresses so I’m all set. I just wasn’t sure how to go about addressing the delays and if I should bother for a refund. They make their dresses in-house and have consistently told me my dress would be done way before my ceremony.

If they promised your dress would be ready and shipped in time then I would definitely ask for a refund if it doesn't arrive before your wedding. I am glad you have back up dresses just in case. Good luck!
