Delaying that time of the month?

Emily, on February 13, 2017 at 12:33 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 28

As luck would have it, I am due to get my period THE DAY OF MY WEDDING! Has anyone done or used anything to naturally delay their period? I am not on birth control so I am looking for another way. I have been reading about Shepards Purse which is an herb that is suppose to help delay it. Has anyone used this or have any advice? It wouldn't be a huge deal if my period wasn't super painful and heavy!

Are you on the pill? If yes, just skip the placebos and go on to the next pack.

    I wouldn't mess with herbs.

I agree with Powers. Skip the herbs. It might work. Your period might be delayed. Or it might be sped up. Or it might do some serious long term damage. Don't gamble with your body!! What works for some women might not work for you. Talk to your doctor. See about getting on the pill. Best of luck Smiley smile

Definitely talk to your doctor and avoid herbs unless you have his/her okay to do so.

I tried skipping the placebos while on the pill about a year ago for a vacation. It worked for the vacation but I then got my period early (I still had two weeks of pills to take before I got to the placebos again) and it lasted for 2 weeks (very light but still...) once it came.

Talk to your doctor ASAP and try to get your period adjusted early.

I am in the same boat. I will be going to the Dr and getting put on birth control. Other than being pregnant, that is the biggest chance of skipping your period, don't risk herbs.

The only way to delay your period is with birth control. There is no other way. You can take all the herbs you want and dance on your head and wear purple socks on Wednesday's but that ain't gonna do shit. You have two choices, 1- go to the dr now and get on the pill or 2-have tampons on hand at your wedding.

Natural will not help you. Take your birth control continuously to skip your period. That's what I would do.

Gurl if you have heavy and painful periods the pill can help soooo much! And plus if you start on it soon you will be used to it by the time your wedding comes and can just skip the placebos

I am honestly terrible at remembering to take the pill, but we are wanting to TTC soon after the wedding. My doctor recommended the patch and said to just skip the "off week" starting now. That way my body has time to adjust and I'll know how heavy or light if I have one at all.

I've only done it with birth control and it has to be monophasic. If you try with triphasic you'll bleed for weeks.

My kids stopped my period naturally. One stopped it from returning for a full 9 months and the other 16 months!

Haha seriously though try the pill. Although I will say, my body says "screw you" and I get my period anyway :-( so I'm just pretty much certain I'll have it for my wedding regardless.

I have! On multiple occasions. Whenever I studied abroad I would skip the break week with my nuvaring (which is the equivalent of skipping the sugar pills while taking oral contraceptives). It was great! When you're in Tanzania, having a heavy flow out on the town (without modern plumbing) is not ideal. Nothing bad happened, my period returned when I took it out next month Smiley smile now I have an IUD which means I constantly have low dose birth control constantly, and no periods! So happy!

I know some women who use the arm implant or shot and they don't have periods at all, but those seem to have more side effects. Personally, I'm on the pill and it has helped tremendously. A few years ago, I was doubled over in pain and my boyfriend (now FH) was ready to take me to the ER because I couldn't even stand up straight. My cramps definitely aren't as bad now, plus I usually have a period only every other month.

I tried 3 different pills and the shot... they all made me bleed continuous for about eight months! I can't seem to find one that works to lighten my period ... shoot even one that gives me a normal cycle!!

I'm better off now even though I have a heavy period at least I can predict them...and have a normal cycle
