Deleting posts

My guess is that things that are posted will apply to other people/situations for posterity. Otherwise there might be a thread asking how to handle something which has lots of constructive criticism but the OP may not like those responses but they still apply to other folks asking the same.

What pp said is probably the most likely scenario as to why you can't delete posts. Posts only really get deleted if they're spam, accidental double posts or have offense content.

It is! I wish we were able to, especially when I have several typos.

I wish we can delete or at least edit our posts and comments.

Y'all have basically covered it - the idea is to preserve answers for future members to read and learn from. We wouldn't want people deleting their posts if they don't agree with the answers they are getting, especially when members could have taken a lot of time and effort to write thoughtful replies.
