Is anyone worried for their upcoming summer wedding that this new variant is going to shut everything down? I’m getting married on July 30th and getting nervous my state is going to start putting restrictions in place again

My wedding is in a month and my RSVPs that came over the weekend show a 41% decline overall. Many people cannot imagine flying in a packed plane with strangers right now. I accept it. That said, your wedding is in 2 weeks and I would just mentally prepare to roll with it. It does no good to be anxious over things you cannot control. I'd just touch base with your guests (to reduce no-shows) and give venue a final meal headcount. Best wishes, your wedding will still be a celebration!

Los Angeles put their mask mandate back in place beginning this Saturday - even vaccinated people are required to wear masks indoors. Keeping my fingers crossed that this restriction is lifted by my wedding on 9/18!

I’ve just started having anxiety about this literally tonight! My wedding isn’t until October 2nd, but the variant makes me nervous!
Guess worrying about it won’t help though!

I am SO stressed about this - losing sleep over it, stressed. My wedding is one month away, so it’s cutting it so close for unexpected changes (besides the normal unexpected ones that naturally come with wedding planning!)

Our state fully lifted restrictions, everyone we know is vaccinated, so we went ahead with our full guest count, etc. I thinking I might reach out to people before our final headcount is due, to let them know we understand if they no longer feel comfortable - we would just like to know, if possible. My empathy to everyone going through this!

My wedding is two weeks away in Nevada. It'll be interesting with surges if they put a mask in place 😔

I have 160 guests and I haven't had any of them back out because of flying yet. it'll be interesting if it happens but it is crazy the differences in crowds and their safety levels. but totally understand if people are uncomfortable!

I'm not too horribly nervous since we are getting married two weeks from tomorrow, but I just want to say that I'm just getting over the Delta variant and even with being vaccinated it's taken almost 2 weeks to have any sort of appetite again. I still feel weak and exhausted.

I am. I got the Jansen shot back in March -- FH got the Pfizer shot and didn't get sick when I did, so Pfizer clearly is the better vaccine, at least with the strain around here.

Hi! I am debating to postpone my wedding to end of Jan 2022. Does anyone think we will have to wear masks indoors by then?

Where do you live right now? And when is your wedding?

I've been reading that covid is going to be high for fall/winter. If you postpone, I think you also have the risk of masks indoors. Hopefully not, but in Nevada we don't have to have masks right now.

I live in Santa Clarita, CA. My wedding is in Stevenson Ranch, Ca near Magic Mountain. My venue is indoors for reception. Last year my wedding was canceled in early Feb. The second wave of hit everyone from Nov-Feb. So I have a gut feeling I might be in the same boat next year.

I live in Georgia and honestly don't think that will happen by January lol. If it does, then we're prepared and will provide masks, but also won't feel bad if people decline to come because of that.

    Hi there!

October 2, 2021 bride here! To be honest I'm not to worried. I'm very doubtful that another shut down will occur. I don't think this will ever be as bad as it was last year (pre vaccine time) However, I know some states are reinstating the mask mandates ( not sure about restrictions) . I live in Ohio right outside of Cleveland and our governor just released a few days ago that he does not plan on reinstating a mask mandate, that this is more a matter and concern of the unvaccinated. It is all state dependent on what they choose to do.

October 30th and my feelings are “whatever happens, happens”. We didn’t stress the first shutdowns and simply postponed a year. But, we definitely won’t postpone again. For us, it’s not worth extending the engagement any longer and postponing a second time just for a party. If needed, we’ll marry legally on our date and have a big celebration (at our current venue) for the 1st anniversary. Before covid, we already hosted 3-4 parties per year at our house. Our original date was 10/10/20. So, when postponing, we purposely selected 10/30/21 so that we could have themed anniversary costume parties to celebrate (followed by a getaway together). So, if we have to go with that Plan B decision, it would be just fine!
