Dental and my teeth :-/

Cheetah2B, on October 14, 2013 at 11:54 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 11

It's more a vent lol

Had dental all as a kid/teen but couldn't use it bc "they didn't want the premiums to go up". Same with the health insurance.

Anyways, I've had 5 of the farthest teeth on my left side, top and bottom pulled(top/bottom wisdom, and 3 more). Nowwwww, that's the second dentist. The first I went to in 2009, Idk wtf he did, but since he "cleaned" them, they've started HEAVILY rotting from the top. I don't have dental now(was on XFh's plan), and I'm using dentek(which is eh, well it works but draws attention). It's all the way across the front 4 top teeth, and now my left eye tooth is doing it. Plus, each of the teeth on each side, between front and eye teeth, are both broken off in the rear!!! And tonight, I noticed my left one is rotted in the front, and cracked off 1/3 in the rear.

I want to BAWL. I only get anxiety with teeth. Nothing else. Found perfect dentist, ex cancels insurance the next day w/o telling me, now I owe them almost $400 and can't go back. Yet he was SOOO good with my nervousness! Patient, etc, tho I acted like a damn toddler! That's the second dentist, as I wouldn't let the first do anything else, yet he billed insurance for work that wasn't done :-/

I can afford pymts on dental, but by the time I can FINALLY use it for what I need(extractions and implants/partial), my teeth will probably break off. Ughhhh...

This just sucks. I'm afraid they're gonna fall out when I eat, and that I won't be able to get them fixed before the wedding. I don't qualify for low income emergent care, bc they ale FHs income into consideration bc we live together. Ack, FMTeeth!!!!!

Im so sorry! Have you just thought about having them pulled and getting some kind of partial or something? Of course I have no idea what kind of shape they are in... at any rate I hope you feel better!

They don't hurt, and that's good lol. I'm hoping to just get them pulled and get partials. Although at this rate, I'll settle for full out upper dentures lolol. My bottom teeth are fine, except the one in front of my wisdom tooth is broke all to hell. So pull 2, and those are perfect haha!!!

I'm wondering if there's anything else you can look into? I didn't think I had dental insurance (still on my parents') and was able to find Groupons for H and I both to get cleanings, exams and x-rays done for $35 each. I don't think there's a groupon for serious dental surgery, but maybe someone will work with you on a payment plan or something? bartering?

My FH is a dentist. He said for you to go to a dental school or hospital that has a dental residency. They charge 80% less than regular dentists and some hospitals take dental insurance and payment plans

I was watching a commercial about a product called "snap on smile". They are a little like veneers and dentures. I guess they are removeable. Im not sure about cost, but they are cheaper than venures. They looked really natural and make your teeth super straight and they match them with your color. They can cover, rotting teeth, missing teeth, etc. I am wearing a retainer right now and i read they fit just like a retainer. Except their not your real teeth. I also wanted to straightened my teeth before my wedding. They weren't to cricket, but I had an under bite. So, my dentist just fitted me for my retainer. But anywho look into the snap on smile, it may be for you. I personally dont mind my retainer. Only another 2 months and ill be done. So, if you can handle a retainer, im assuming the snap on smile will be okay for you. good luck! Dont worry, now you can fix anything you want. You have time to get those pearly whites fixed and you can feel secure about your smile Smiley smile

I agree with LadyCrystal. I used to go to a dental school's clinic. It took forever to get stuff done. (E.g., they would take four visits to finish a cleaning.) But the work was done well, and it was a lot less expensive than a regular dentist. And they are trained in minimizing pain and anxiety.

I can totally sympathize with you my problem however is different, I have about 4 teeth in the front that are discolored because they enamel has worn off, due to the fact that I was very sick two years ago and I was vomiting so much the acid from my stomach literally ate the enamel off those front teeth so now I am faced with trying to "whiten" them even though that's not the issue at all and the dentist says it will only help so much but worth it for $200 to me if anything they will look better. I have also considered the "snap on smile" btw it is $1300 for the top teeth a heck of a lot cheaper then veneers $900 per a tooth, believe me I have checked around. My photographer is editing all my "teeth" shots but still doesn't take the insecurity away and the fact that everyone will be able to see them. Best of luck to you. I ahve dental that I pay $18/mo for and it covers partials my FH looked into it for a few of his back teeth and it was only like a $75 co pay www.dentalhealthservices.

Cheetah..check out those dental discount cards. I've got a good friend who had massive cosmetic work done (complete upper implants after a synthetic bone injection in the upper jaw), and he swears that the dental discount cards were better than the insurance he had through his employer. Good luck to you. I have a soft spot for anyone going through dental nightmares.

    Thanks for the suggestions ladies!

The snap on smile I wanted when it came out, but I keep seeing mixed reviews on them.

The dental clinics in Houston are mostly for truly infringe by, and it's $150-$175 for their initial visit, which is a cleaning and X-rays etc. no other work. If my teeth get cleaned again, OMG lol they'd fall off in their hands!

With insurance, the Pay of 5 teeth pulls and removing an exposed nerve was $198. But he cancelled the insurance and somehow it got up to $382 which is what I owe them. Thinking of just paying it and going back lol.

I feel you! I need dental work done, and no dental insurance. I have to get wisdom teeth pulled along with a broken moler. I also have some caps that came out from when I was a child. So now I have sensitive teeth on one side of my mouth. It's just horrid. I feel your pain! We just want wonderful teeth for our wedding day! Geeze!
