Deposit a Gift or Honeyfund?? Have you ladies used either?

~Samazing, on April 14, 2011 at 9:02 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 16

How many of you ladies have used either of these sites? and what are your thoughts/reviews on them?

FH is kind of skeptical about the deposit a gift site because it's not back by the BBB. (he was skeptical about JVL too, but I ordered from them anyway and now he has his ring, which he likes btw)

Any input from you ladies would be greatly appreciated! TIA

I used Deposit a Gift for my son's trip to Washington, D.C. We only had one person to participate and when I cashed out the account it came in the form of a visa gift card.

They have a few ways to cash out. The card being one of them... I was looking at the direct deposit option since FH and I will be leaving for the honeymoon 2 days after the wedding, so I wouldn't want to wait for a card or check to get to me

I'm using Honeyfund. I like it for the most part and there are so many different options for payment, you don't have to wait to cash out at the end. I've already received some of the gifts actually, which was a shocker when I got that Paypal message!

@Kelsey, that's good to hear! I am checking that one out. it's nice to hear about how it worked from someone who has just recently gotten married, as well as from the ladies who are currently using these sites and receiving gifts already.

Did any of your guests have any issues or difficulties with it at all?

I like the idea of these sites because it's showing the guests what their gift goes towards.. instead of just saying "we would prefer to just have money"

This way we can go enjoy these things, take pics of us enjoying them, and send them thank you cards with a pic of us enjoying our gift from them.

My guests didn't seem to have any issues with it at all. In the end I just said "send me my payment", and viola a check showed up in the mail 3 days later. You can also get it direct deposited. It is great because you can choose things that you would like to do, like whale watching, and then your guest feels like they are still purchasing a gift rather than giving cash. At the end of the day you just get a lump sum to spend on whatever the heck you want!

I think this is a much better idea than just trying to include a poem in the invites asking for cash.. I agree with a lot of the ladies that it may seem really tacky or rude. But I think if my guests can see what kind of things their money will go to, it will help out a lot. FH and I just don't need anything for the house as we have everything we need since we live with my mom, and we have no room to store anything for when we have our own place, though my grandma did buy us dishes for xmas because I saw a set I kept eying up at Ross Smiley tongue

And we are on a tight budget for the wedding already and so we don't have much for the honeymoon. My grandma is helping with some of the cost (since we are kind of going as a family, FH and I will have our own car and will be on our own during the day) but I don't have any money set aside for it yet..

I used Honeyfund and had no problems. It is very helpful and very easy to track all activity.

We've signed up for depositagift.com and it's awesome. already received a few gifts from our engagement party and we cashed them out without any sort of problem. in fact, they offer an ACH direct deposit option for free that we used (which none of the other services do) and it was totally secure and super fast. i've emailed them before with questions and their customer service is amazing and really responsive. if you have any doubts, why not just email them?

We used deposit a gift and it worked perfectly. the customer service is top notch and we received our money immediately. we liked that they take purchases with credit cards and offer a free ach direct deposit option to redeem the money. overall it was a classy experience for guests and really smooth for us. we never felt concerned working with them. in fact, quite the opposite...we felt really well taken care of!
