Dermaplaning? Lash Lift & Tint?

MrsD, on April 25, 2019 at 4:43 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 31

The esthetician I'm working with suggested dermaplaning a week or so before the wedding, to help with my makeup application. Have any of you brides done it? Thoughts? Did you like it or hate it?

Same for lash lift & tint? Thoughts?

I've never done either! I've done stem cell microneedling once, doing it again in 2 weeks. Possibly a chemical peel too. Then I'll do an oxygen facial and botox in my forehead about 4 weeks out. I've had three facials since January, and one microdermabrasion treatment.

Thank you for all your help!

I've had a lash lift & tint and loved it! It's so much better for your lashes than extensions and it makes your natural lashes super long and dark. Mine have lasted about a month in the past and I wouldn't even have to wear any mascara during that month. I think it would be something good to get for the wedding especially if you're wearing fake lashes because it will really help your natural lashes blend into the fake ones even better which I feel like will make your eyes pop even more.

Awesome! Yeah, I've had lash extensions and couldn't stop messing with them. I'm also using Babe Lash so I hopefully should see results after 10 weeks (I've been using it for 3) with long lashes. I'm so happy you mentioned them working well with fake lashes, that was my next question!

I can only comment on the lash lift & tint...I love it! It's basically a perm for your lashes and makes them a lot more noticeable without mascara. If you plan to do false lashes though I wouldn't bother doing the last lift prior to the wedding.

I am going to do fake lashes for the wedding, but I'm wondering if I'd be happy for the rehearsal dinner & honeymoon having the lift & tint? Do you use mascara when you do your makeup after the lift and tint?

I love dermaplaning! I makes your skin super soft and smooth because It takes off all your dead skin and peach fuzz. I am doing this for my wedding so that I have a smooth canvas for my makeup.

Yes plus for the rehearsal dinner when you're not wearing the falsies your lashes will still look so good! They look awesome without mascara so if you do mascara on top of that it looks even better and you don't need a ton at all.

The only negatives I've heard about it were:

    1. If you have a breakout while you get dermaplaning, the person doing it can cut you if they aren't careful then you have a scar/mark for your wedding day?

    2. When it grows back it feels weird.

Is that anything you have experienced? How long before the wedding day do you plan on getting it?

Awesome! Does it hurt to get? It looks kind of intense from the pictures I googled! Does it take a long time? Should I go a week before the wedding? Earlier than that?

No it doesn’t hurt at all! It feels a little weird because you have to keep your eyes closed for a long time while they do it but no pain at all! The whole process took about an hour for me in a spa and they had the lights dimmed and soft music so once I got used to the feeling it was still relaxing like any other spa treatment in my opinion! A week before would be perfect so they are still fresh and you are used to them. You also can’t wesr mascara for the first couple days so that would be perfect:

I have personally never been cut while getting it done. However my esthetician explained that if it ever does happen it'll look like a small thin line, much like a paper cut. It will probably sting more than it'll be noticeable. I get it dont every couple months to help with dark areas that I have and I have never noticed it when It grows back.

I plan on going the week before my wedding, but that is only because my skin is used to it. In your case I would suggest getting it once before then to make sure that your skin reacts well and that you you like whoever you go to.

My dermatologist told me to just shave my face instead of the dermaplaning she said it will yield basically the same result and not cost $150, I have decided against it because I have curly hair so I'm prone to ingrowns and that last thing I want is one of those before my wedding.

I will be getting my lash lift and tint 1 week before my wedding I have had this done several times and I love it. My facial will be done 2 weeks before my wedding and got my botox done a month in advance.

Great! Would I be okay just doing it once before the wedding? How long does it take for the hair to grow back on your face? Does it bother you when it grows back?

Ohhhhh, that makes more sense! Yeah, I think the person that told me maybe wasn't super experienced with them. Dark areas as in darker hair or darker skin? Yeah I was wondering if I should do it early to test it, it's just so expensive with the other things I'm doing haha but I've never had a bad reaction to any facial treatments and I've been getting quite a few!

Is botox very expensive? Depends on the city I guess? I'd love to get botox for my forehead wrinkles I just wasn't sure if it's way too much money. I do my own face shaving at home and yes it's very nice but does definitely feel weird like on the sides of your face by your ears when the peach fuzz grows back. Also be careful, because you never know if your stache area will grow back darker! It's the risk of doing it, for some woman it happens others it doesn't.

I don't think I'd feel safe risking shaving my face myself, I think the likelihood of me cutting myself is 100x more than a professional haha! I didn't think about the ingrown hairs, I do get those occasionally under my arms. Maybe I'll budget to test it late May early June.

I'm in Denver, it'll cost me around $140 to do my forehead & in between my eye brows. I did in between my eye brows a couple years ago, and it was closer to $100. They charge by the unit ($10-$15 per unit) so it just depends. I don't think I can shave my face at home, I wouldn't want to risk cutting myself. I've also heard that's a myth, hair growing back darker/thicker after it's been shaved? That isn't a problem anywhere else on my body, and I really have minimal facial hair now so I can't imagine a drastic change.
