Dermaplaning

Staci, on January 9, 2018 at 4:35 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 10
Hi all, my FMIL scheduled me a facial 5 days before my wedding. I have sensitive skin and lately have been having breakouts. I will be having dermaplaning as well. I’ve never had that before but read if you have acne prone skin it can make break outs worse? Have any of you had dermaplaning and would you go 5 days before your wedding?

I wouldn't do anything like that so close to your wedding if you've never done it before. You never know how your skin will react to a new products.

I've never had dermaplaning personally. A friend of mine did and maybe 2-3 days later her skin looked fantastic! It does take a little time to heal from that kind of treatment though. Also be sure to have an experienced skin care person do it as I would be nervous a newer person might cut a little too deep. Makes me want to make an appointment now.

Not sure I'd risk doing something like 5 days before. You could have a reaction.

I think this sounds like a great idea, but NOT that close to your wedding. If anything, I'd try to have that done sooner rather then later just in case your skin reacts poorly.

I can’t stand how my skin feels after dermaplanning. It always feel like my foundation never dries. My skin looks great for a couple days and then it breaks out really bad. It brings all the gross stuff to the surface. I wouldn’t risk it.

I wouldn’t try something new that close to your wedding. If you could I’d try it, like, today to see how your skin reacts.

I have no idea what dermaplaning is but have sensitive skin and wouldn't do anything that close to the wedding. My eyes got big just as reading "facial 5 days before my wedding".

Unless you've been having monthly facials for a few months, I would not get a facial 5 days before your wedding (especially if you are prone to breakouts). Facials will bring all that gunk to the surface, and if you are prone to breakout you likely will get a few spots after your first couple of treatments.

Thank you all! I’m going to go with my instinct and everyone’s advice and wait. I definitely don’t want to breakout before my wedding!

Most escthticians don’t recommend getting facials of any kind any closer than 2 weeks prior to a wedding dhe to the chance of it upsetting your skin. If you’re not sure talk to the people who will be doing the procedure and ask for their feedback.
