Designing our own invitations. Where to print?

Kat & Jimmy, on October 19, 2013 at 8:19 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 17

My fiancé and I are on the hunt for invitations and found a set we really love but is way too expensive and would throw off our budget. I was thinking of designing the invitation myself but where would we go to get them printed? Does anyone know where we can get this done other than kinkos or staples? Thank you in advance for your input!

    Bump!

We are doing the same thing and will need to print my STDs next month, and the rest of our wedding stationery later so I would love to hear peoples' suggestions too.

I designed my own invitations and rsvps and printed them at staples for about 20 bucks. They cut them to size and everything! All you have to do is email them or take them on flash drive in to the store and tell them how many... I had special paper too so I gave them that prior to printing

Thanks everyone for your input! Here is the invitation set my fiancé and I want but is way too expensive. Can vistprint do something like this? Shiny gold lettering, envelopes, and all the other details?

Doesn't hurt to try a local print shop, not a chain, but a momma nd pop outfit, they will likely be glad to get your business, and will print a sample first... It's what we did,

I will be designing my own & either printing them here or on a site like vistaprint. If you need the design, you might look on Etsy. I don't think I can put my link on here because it's promotional, but there are many of us on Etsy that make digital designs.

We used Cards & Pockets, http://www.cardsandpockets.com. They supplied the pocketfolds, the envelopes, and the mats, and printed the invitation card and all the enclosures. We preferred them to Vistaprint, although they were more expensive, because they had more choices in paper colors and weights.

I did my invitations on shutterfly by using one of the photo post card options that allows a photo on top (did a google search for beach wedding images to use) and text on bottom. They look fantastic and were much cheaper than other places. I then ordered coordination RSVP cards and labels from walmartstationery.com.

The "shiny gold print" is foil, which is a high-end process. Carlson Craft or a Letterpress shop would be your best option for that type of printing. For custom printing through Carlson Craft, you will need to locate a dealer in your area at

www.carlsoncraft.com who can handle the order process for you and provide a quote.

A more affordable option would be a printable border card, like this, with black ink. You can add more deco flair with your design and font choices, or you can try a layered style with gold paper and black ink. You can add more gold with lined envelopes, too. Either of these options would offer a similar style at a more affordable price.
